I have a BT Yahoo mail account. Recently when trying to send and receive through Outlook Express I receive a failure message saying my password has been rejected by the server, and it gives me a code ERR[AUTH], Server Error 0X00CCC90 and 0X00CCC92. If anyone has any ideas how I can fix this, I’d be very grateful.

Many thanks.

1. Are you sure the details in OE are correct (in Tools/Accounts/Mail/properties .. settings/server?)
2. Sure no-one is logged into that account on a webpage?

1. Yes. It's been working fine for years, and I haven't changed anything.

2. Yes I'm sure.
Hi Naomi. x Sorry for barging in on you turf here but I need to ask AlBag a question.

Do such errors like what Naomi pointed out denote someone else is logged in to 'your' computer? I've had similar come up, but, I don't use Outlook Express.
Hiya ...
Check you can access the same account as webmail first (in a browser)
Then you could try deleting the account and re-creating with correct server details.
Try a restart .. can't see that helping tho.
Outlook Express has a nasty habit of 'screwing up' email settings, even though they might still appear to be correct. The simplest way of dealing with the problem is to delete the Outlook Express account and then create it again. (Deleting the account doesn't remove any existing mail!).

Click on Tools > Accounts > Mail
The name of your BT Yahoo account might already be highlighted. If not, click on it.
Click 'Remove' and 'Yes'
Then follow these instructions to create the account again:

Thanks very much AlBags, I'll try it.

Society, hi. No problem at all. Nice to see you. :o)

Thanks very much Chris. (Are you sure my existing emails will be safe? Sorry, I'm hopeless with technology).
Deleting your account settings and creating new ones is analogous to getting rid of your tired old postman and replacing him with a nice young handsome one. You won't lose the mail which your original postie delivered before you sacked him ;-)
Hi Society ..
Nearly missed your question.
I think this message is Windows generated, and most of it gobbledigook.
What I do know is, you will likely get an error during retrieval, if someone else is logged into webmail, and vice-versa. But not logged into your PC. Usually, you will get an error when two sources are trying to obtain mail from the account at the same time.

Ha ha. Well since you put it like that, I'm not about the argue. ;o)

Thanks Chris. :o)
Thanks AlBags. Some strange things have been happening, that error, and each time I have to post on here I have to sign on. Do you have any idea why I keep getting kicked out of AB? Ed knows about this sign-on problem.
Hi Society.

AB relies on identifying cookies on your computer in order for you to be recognised without signing on. You seem to have settings in your browser (or in your security software) which are deleting cookies at the end of each browser session.
Have you tried a Temp File cleanup, cookie delete all, and a re-login?
Which browser you using?
Chris - My browser is set to accept cookies and third party cookies too. I have to sign on every single time to make a post. I just had to sign on again before I posted this. This has been happening about ten days now. Also, I've uninstalled browser (Firefox) and reinstalled it hoping the problem would be solved, but to no avail. I might run the recovery disc when I have time, this is getting to be monotonous.
Go into Firefox Tools/Options/Privacy/
Exceptions button. Make sure AB address is entered in there as Accept (without http://www.)
Make sure accept cookies from sites is ticked on that tab.
Thanks AlBags. Don't want to talk too quickly but it looks like your suggestion has worked.

Sorry to take over your thread Naomi. Hope you get your problem sorted soon. x
