Laptop Battery

Anyone any idea how long I should get on a fully charged battery on an HP Compaq 6715s Laptop ? I am only getting 1 hour 10 minutes at present. Thank You for any help.

It depends what you are doing and your settings. If you have the monitor brightness full up, it will use a lot of battery power, for example.

Watching a dvd movie is also power hungry.

If I am simply wordprocessing I can get up to 3 hours from my laptop battery.

also crazy as it may seem if you only have a relatively small amount of ram in your laptop this can decrease battery life dramatically , the reason being that with a smallish amount of ram the computer will be using the swap file on the hard drive a lot more and the hard drive uses a lot of power.

my HP laptop would only give me about 1.5 hours with 256mb ram, upgrading this gave me about an extra 45min of battery life
