The cells in a laptop battery are easy to replace by the average home handymen. There is info on the net on how to crack the cases. Get the cells with the wire already soldered to each battery if you can, that is the trickiest bit.
You can recell your own battery with quality cells for half the cost of a compatable or 1/3 the price of a genuine new one.
