I have a GE force FX 5200 PCI graphics card. It has a port to receive a standard PC power supply coming from the main power unit (like hard drives use). I have 2 hard drives so don't have any spare power. Is it ok to leave the graphics card unpowered? It has a fan, I assume it needs the power to work? thanks

Yes it will need power.

You can buy power splitter cables, like this:

Takes a single power supply and turns it in to two.
