Get a bluetooth PC adapter and a compatible mobile and use this for internet access. Orange also do a mobile "office" laptop card which allows you to surf the internet using mobile technology. In realistic terms, however, it is cheaper to install a second phone line and use this for the internet.
You can get a box that you plug into an adaptor on your phone line that will alert you when somebody is calling - I think you need call waiting for this to work. Also I recall reading somewhere that the latest 56k modems can allow you to pause an internet call to answer the phone - can anyone confirm this? im on broadband now so I never went down this route
I used to have software which enabled me to take calls over the internet. The call would activate a ring tone via the software and I could take the call using my micrphone and speakers. This was when I was with BT on a dial up connection and I did have to get BT to enable some service on the line. Can't really remember much else because it was a few years ago but it is possible. As I recall I could also use the service to call someone else.
Have call diversion to a mobile when the internet is in use or BT homehighway.
and whats the problem with broadband ?
