My laptop does not have anything on it to put a firewire, could anyone tell me if it is possible to add firewire to my laptop. There are no spaces on the laptop to install this, i have a IEEE1394 lead but nowhere to put it.
It also has no cardbus slot, i am thinking this is a c..p laptop as it is only a year old and was made by a company called QTech. Is there any other way that i can download data from a camcorder to a laptop.
Thanks

Are you sure there's no cardbus slot? I've yet to see a laptop without cardbus.

If there's no cardbus and no firewire, and your camera doesn't support USB2, then there's not much else you can do, except use another computer.
Presumably your laptop has at least one free PCMCIA (also known as PC Card) port?

If so, take a look at the following links:

Sorry, should have read the whole question!
As fo3nix says, if there's no cardbus slot, then (a) it's extremely unusual, and (b) there's not a lot you can do about it :-{
I know I have spoken to you before on this issue, and wasn't able to resolve it. But I find it very hard to believe you do not have firewire or a pc card slot.

Has your laptop got some kind of protective flap hiding them? I am not suggesting you are stupid at all, by the way.

Go to Start/Control Panel/Performance and Maintenance/ System you will find the Device Manager.

Open the device manager and look for the IEEE 1394 controller and PCMCIA.
