Firewire Card Problems

Until recently my Firewire card(made by VIA, bought fairly cheap on eBay) was working fine however it now no longer recognises my Camcorder when attached via the Firewire cable.

In System Manager on the PC it tells me the card is working fine with no conflicts.  I have tried a new Firewire cable in case it was that but still no joy.

Any ideas from the tech experts out there before I buy a new Firewire card?  Any suggestions as to which make I should purchase?

Thanks in advance for any replies made.

Hi,

What windows system do you have?  If you have XP, then why not try a system restore.

I don't know whether this option is available on other windows versions.  I once installed new hardware which worked okay, then for no apparent reason it stopped working.  I did a system restore and it started to work fine again.

Just take it back to the last available restore point and you will probably find it works fine.

Let me know if you don't know how to do system restore.
