I can't provide you with an answer, but it sounds like the guy in the shop is trying to pull a fast one, and get you to buy a uneccessary lead. We use a 2.99 Scart lead with our HD Digibox, and quality is perfect.

SCART leads aren't like RF aerial leads that can suffer from interference. I would try a different SCART lead just to be sure, but probably your DVD recorder is faulty.

Hope this helps.

Sorry, I've got to totally disagree with the last answer. The salesman may be right, you might need a better lead, but it could be just a case of repositioning the scart cable.

I have, in the past, had "interference" on certain channels, either a low buzzing noise or a ghost image from a different channel, and this was only solved as a result of jiggling about at the back with the scart leads.

PS, I forgot to add, I only had that problem when I had the video or cable box on, so I really think it is a sort of conflict between equipment "meeting" via touching scart cables.
disconect your scart leads and then refit them making sure they are very firmly fitted and all the way in.this cured a pals dvd/ digibox problem.

There's no need to spend a fortune on SCART leads as there is rarely any difference between their performance.

However, look for one where the individual cores are individually screened - these are better at reducing crosstalk which can cause ghosting etc.
