Please help me anyone who can. I'm translating a text (plastic containers industry) and I came over an expression "barrier dip", it seems from the context that it is a production defect.

Plastic containers used for foodstuffs have "barriers" to protect the food from it's environment. "Barrier dip" is propbably the manufacturing process, ie the container is dipped in a resin/solution which forms the protective barrier.
