A new icon 'Homegroup' has appeared on my desktop. I can't see that I'm likely to use it, but since it seems to have come from Windows I don't want to remove it (and it won't let me do that anyway). It's spoiling the look of my desktop wallpaper (seasonal panorama of the North York Moors), but it won't let me drag it to a more convenient position; I can pick it up and it appears to move, but the moment I release it it goes back to where it was before. Any advice and/or explanation. please?

Why not click it and see what starts up.

If it is something you would never use, uninstall the program.

I tried the link, OG, and when it opened the screen froze. That's been happening quite a lot lately (not when searching normally, though). I read what it said as far as I could, and will try on Windows 7. Thanks. Otherwise I will probably uninstall as Hopkirk suggests.
I'm not sure you can asI now think it is a Windows feature, rather than someone sliding an unwanted program onto your computer.
