Shadow On Tv Screen

A few months ago a small shadow appeared at the bottom of our TV screen. Since then it has grown up the middle of the screen so in certain lights it looks like a tree shape growing up to the top of the screen. It is only faint and as yet does not interfere with our watching. Any suggestions as to what is causing it and is the TV on its way out? It is only two years old.
