I copied some holiday videos to CD and DVD blanks on my laptop. My DVD player will not play them it justs says "wrong disc". How do I get them to play, it is just a basic cheap dvd player but I was told it would play my copies.

You need to look at the manual and see what type of discs it reads, then download your copies on to compatible disks.
What format are your holiday videos in? You may need to convert them to DVD format before they will play correctly.

I downloaded from my video camera to my laptop, and then copied them to blank cd and dvd discs. They play fine on a laptop, but as I stated for some reason this dvd player just doesn't want to know. The handbook does not say much, but It does say on the box JPEG discs can be used. I am not technical so any advice is much appreciated
Probably doesn't play divx, although a lot of cheap dvd players do
What is the make and model of the dvd player?
What is the format of the disks - eg DVD-R, DVD+R?

What format is your video?
when you put video files on to a dvd, the disc has to be "finalised" before it will play in any machine, if you copied these dvd's in your laptop, at the end of the recording it should say "finalise disc to play on any machine" this is so that if you don't finalise the disc, other files can be added at the end of the last recording at a later date, but it will only play on the machine its been recorded on, until its finalised.
agree with marden disc needs to be finalised so it can be played on another dvd player. You can still finalise to finish them.

I don't think I had a prompt to finalise. How do I go about it. I copied some of the files on Windows Windows Movie Maker.
