Stop the 'standby'.... change your settings accordingly. Once Tune Up has finished, I suggest you do a Disk Clean up, followed by a defrag.... this could all take most of the morning! Then reboot, run Tune Up again, and it should be much better!

Won`t my PC get too hot if on for hours..I know one can be working on it that long but for it to be just standing...so to speak..?????
If your PC is a decent one it won't overheat. Even a less than decent one should be ok.
I agree with Daffy. Also there is a setting in the Control Panel that will give a warning if the PC starts to overheat, so as long as you look at it every 20 minutes or so, you should be OK, but, as long as the PC is not in a 'confined' space, you should have no problem.

PC which is a Hewitt Packard in a desk cupboard which is completely open at back(took cupboard back cover off) plus plenty of space around the PC.I can also leave the door open too,so should be no problem there.
Where do I look in the Control Panel for the overheating setting ,have Windows 7?
With your description of its environment, you should have no problem whatsoever. Overheating can often occur on older laptops, but rarely on desktops. And if you have Win 7 running, it implies a recent machine. I don't have my Win 7 system fired up at the moment, but quite honestly, you need not worry about that. Here's a useful web site for more info though:

Personally, I don't like Win 7, I'm a firm believer in the old adage 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'. I know that there are many new features in Win 7 over XP, but to change things like the Control Panel format was just stupid. Then we have to contend with Win 8 soon.... Sigh...
If it was going to overheat just by running a clean up programme I think the world would be in trouble!! :)

Thank you HockleyHeat.
Will have a go tomorrow...I agree, prefer XP which both laptop and netbook are...and I HATE IE9...downloaded it with updates...urgh...got rid of it!!!

But still comes with updates saying it is important,so how long I can last out before HAVING to use it,I don`t know.

You are right Ratter15...I an probably being over cautious.
I'd be interested to know where there are any settings in the control panel of windows 7 that are anything to do with temperature monitoring too??
I have discovered that IE9 and AOL do not like each other - many would say I should get rid of AOL, but the solution for me has been to install Mozilla Firefox and not use IE at all and AOL.com on Firefox works fine. (I do not have AOL installed on my PC - gave that up many moons back!) I'm currently using a very early 2002 XP desktop in the shed (don't ask!), and IE does not work at all -system just hangs! Firefox is fine though.
Good luck tomorrow. I think you'll find you'll have no problems.
Been such a long time since I used temperature monitoring, and it was not on Win 7. I think it's a separate application, sorry for the erroneous info. Last time I used it was when trying to find a problem with my laptop which gave temp warnings, and this turned out to be a lot of dust in the fan area.
AOL is like a ruddy virus.
Wouldn't get a look in here .. or on anybody's PC that knows me.
