Lost all sound

I have found someone else has posted a similar question but not had any replies that would help me.

I usually have my laptop (HP Pavilion Entertainment PC) on mute but when I turned the volume back on a couple of weeks ago, I couldn't get any sound from the computer's speakers, nor through HDMI to the TV, nor via headphones.
Checked sound drivers and reinstalled them.

I'm guessing I can have it looked at under guarantee (It's only3 months old) but don't want to lose programs etc on my hard disc (I have all files backed up.) as it'll be a pain to have everything back as I have it now.

So before I take it back to the shop, has anyone any suggestions I might try?

It has 64 bit Windows 7 Home premium, if that helps.

Sounds like a faulty laptop. I have a similar one to you but had problems with the screen not the sound. Did read however, that these laptops not good with sound (can't recall where I read it) so maybe it is faulty and best taken back with it being so new. Good luck.

Thanks Daisya, that was quick. I had hoped it might be something I could do without having to return it.
Chris someone else might be able to give you an idea, so hang in there before you consider taking it back. Can understand how you feel because I'd be the same, but with yours not giving sound out in any way not just on the lappy it looks like something amiss on the laptop to me BUT...I could be wrong.
I had this prob once, did a system restore to a point when I had sound and it put things right.
