When I was a child my grand mother used to speak of her younger brother - Jimmy Pritchard, who she said used to play rugby for England. How can I find out if this is true? It would have been a long time ago because Nan was born in around 1895 and her brother was younger, I believe. Can anyone give me any advice?
Many thanks

Hi, I have an old Rothmans Rugby Union Yearbook, the 1990/91 version. It gives the names of all players for each of the home Unions up to that date. There is no Pritchard who played for England, Scotland or Ireland. There are three who played for Wales, but none with the initial J.

He could have played at a junior level, of course. The only way to find out, if they've kept the records from the old amateur days, would be to write to the RFU at Twickenham Stadium.

The other option may be that he played Rugby League, and with that I'm afraid I can't help you.

Good luck with your search.
