I know it is still going on but what a let down all this star gazing has been.

My local, which is in a very dark village laid on a special outdoor evening. Mmmm I must have seen at least two shooting stars in two hours. In fact I probably see more on a ruddy normal night!!!!

However, a highlight did occur.

Has anybody heard of "Stargazey Pie". I have never seen it before. It was a normal pastry crusted pie with giant pilchard heads actually poking out of the pie. In theory they are looking at the stars!!!

Very strange, but pleasing.

So................

1) Has anybody seen loads of shooting stars?

2) Am I the only one never to have had Stargazey Pie?

2) I have seen it in a pie shop/bakery in Penzance. The crimping was kinda in a starshape with a fish head inbetween each point.
Sorry shadow what star gazing? haven't heard anything about any shooting stars happening tonight.

P.S thanks for the idea about my tattoo (the jigsaw piece). That was my original idea but our partners poo pooed it so much my best mate went off the idea.

Need to make it perfect seeing as will be with us for ever.

Good luck star searching

It is going on til sunrise evidently.

Some special evening if you look north eastwards, there is a meteor shower all morning.
mrs notsoknowall.....there is a meteor storm happening over the next few nights, tonight should be best visibility if you look in a northeasterly direction. I have looked out for this storm many years and am often blighted by cloud cover and fined the one in December to be more spectacular.

Ahhhhhhh just checked goody, and stargazey pie is indeed a Corwall thing.

They are hardly as popular as Cornish Pasties are they?
Just been stood getting colder in my back garden gazing into the sky , but did see at least a dozen in less than half an hour .I must have been out there at a lucky time maybe .
I would go out again but think now Iv'e seen some I may go to bed :-)
1) I only saw 1!
2) No. x
I got my footage last night.
Very clear.
I'm off to work now.
See you later.
I sat outside for ages last night and didn't see one!! How do I know which is N.west when I don't have a compass. If it's tonight as well where do I look? I mean which direction, I know its in the sky!!!!!!!
I went out last night at 12 and stayed out til just gone 2, I saw 36 altogether. I didn't think that was many until i read these posts. They seem to come in little spurts, I would go 5 mins without any then see 3 or 4 one after the other. There was 3 that were really bright and had a long tail. Pretty amazing I thought.

yeah i also had a great view, saw some fantastic shooting stars. had to come in after a couple of hours cos i was freezing.
We drove up to a nice quiet point over looking the sea with no light pollution apart from a few flashing lights froms distant ships. We had a great view but only see around half a dozen in the space of about half an hour. We was out a bit too early I think. Sadly it started clouding over so we made our way back to our nice warm bed!
...went out and had a look for 5 mins. before bed , around 12.15 ish...saw 2....
