I don't know if there was any humble pie available this morning or who would have been eating it.

But what would have been on the menu, coffee, scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, toast and juice?

Sounds good to me  ...

All of the above, minus the salmon, thank you.

Cake? :0)

Tea, croissant?

Kippers perhaps?

I always enjoy a kipper tie, as Noddy Holder might say.

Bearing in mid the Indian influence in the Tory Cabinet I would imagine Kedgeree on the menu

I love Kedgeree.  Mum used to make it for breakfast.  We're not Indian.

I was a lucky kid. Always given a good cooked breakfast of varied types and Mum worked too!  Times have changed.  No breakfast clubs at school!

Just heard on the radio they had bacon sandwiches.  That must have been a bit disappointing.  You could get them and a cup of builders tea in any cafe.

Why would you expect a working breakfast at no 10 to be anything special.... Mostly blokes...  most people like a bacon butty, and the veggie alternatives are a lot better these days.

When I heard mention of bacon butties my mind went back to Harold Wilson's days at No 10 when he provided beer and sandwiches for a trade union delegation while he was secretly a cigar and fine wine type of chap.

The present incumbent of No 10 strikes me as a quail's egg type of chap so bacon sandwiches may have been a novelty for him.
