Congratulations to Team GB on equalling our 2012 result with 65 medals overall. 22 gold 21 silver and 22 bronze, 4th in the medal tables. Really enjoyed watching some of the new sports involved.

I strongly disagree: there were unfortunate injuries to most of the favourites for gold (there weren't that many to start with). Take those out of the mix and it was more or less what was expected from not the strongest squad ever. Nevertheless there were medals at long last for Holly Bradshaw and Laura Muir and Josh Kerr arrived as a star.
Other than that it was the usual case of some athletes performing above expectations and others below. Rowing was also a disappointment.

Were there no competitors from Norther Ireland, then? I notice that even the official Olympic site mentions "Great Britain." Why not the United Kingdom?
It's interesting that of all our gold medalists, only the two boxers competed in events where the individuals remain in contact with the ground throughout the competition.
