3 darts? 159
2 darts? 99
Yes, on the assumption that you're talking about "standard" matchplay darts, where a set of three darts which reduced a player's score to 1 would not be permitted.
I think its 169
Lowest number, Alba
Although I suppose that's why it's impossible ever to reach 1, and doing so busts. So after that it would be 159, I think.
163

Ok, so my friend said it’s not 1, but I know nothing at all about the game until I took an interest in Fallon Sherlock’s success. Thanks for all the replies everyone.
I thought Fallon Sharrock played well, must have missed Ms Sherlock though.
Alba gave the definitive answer of 159.

If you were throwing at Double 1 (Madhouse, for obvious reasons), and you hit single 1, then "No score" would be declared and you would take your dart out of the board.

If you're thinking of taking up the game, balliali, consider leaving yourself on an even numbered double, rather than an odd. Assuming you've got three darts in your hand, missing a double on the inside means you've got to use the second dart to split the odd number and leaving one dart to throw. Double 16 is one of the favourites, as double 8 is next door on the board.
I would go for 171, as 2 treble 20's a a bulls-eye give you 170.
My last answer was highest will think about lowest now lol.
The "bogey" numbers that cannot be checked out, finishing on a double, with 3 darts in hand are 169, 168, 166, 165, 163, 162 and 159. The lowest of those three is of course 159. Bogey numbers are those numbers that will not check out even when you have reduced the score required down to a level that can be checked out. ie. 170 checks out with T20, T20, Bull.
99 is the bogey number with 2 darts in hand. 1OO can be checked out with T20, D20. and all numbers below this can be checked out with 2 darts except of course 1. Leaving yourself on 1 means the previous dart/darts is/are nullified and you go back to the score as it was before you "busted".
I used to play darts quite a bit. I was never very good but occasionally had my moments. One of those moments was when I busted on 172. I threw two treble 20s, leaving me with 52. I always liked the bottom doubles (17 and 19 - not good darts strategy I know, but I was not a good darts player) so went for a single 18 to leave me needing 34. Of course I got treble 18, total 174 and busted. That really was the pinnacle of my career on the oche and after that it was all downhill.
you're in good company nj :-)

NJ gave up darts and joined crib team, still play occasionally but not for as much money as I used to, older and wiser and wealthier.
159
Lol Judge. I can hear the swearing and laughter from here. I have checked out 501 with 9 darts in my time and been round the board in the minimum of darts. My highest check out was 161. Nigh on 50 years ago mind.
