Sometimes in life we are surprised at what has occurred. Sometimes we are startled. Very, very rarely are we completely dumbfounded. But that is exactly how i feel on waking to the news. How did this happen? This was more of a surprise than Leicester winning the Prem league. More of a surprise than the Brexit referendum result. Anthony Joshua beaten - and well beaten at that - by this apparent no-hoper from Mexico. Knocked down 4 times - that's F O U R, then stopped in the seventh. Just can't believe it, but it happened.

Ken...I agree it was a shock AND the Mexican looked fat and flabby........odd looking guy....but he knocked out our man.

Didn't watch the fight, sqad. To be totally honest, i didn't think it would be worth the while staying up - thought it would be over in a couple of rounds, in Joshua's favour of course. Wouldn't surprise me if either Wilder or Fury try and get it on with Ruiz before AJ gets the chance of a rematch.

Ah, just read that there was a 'rematch clause' in the agreement prior to the fight and the rematch is scheduled to take place in the UK in November/December.
Didn't see this Ken till I had posted on the thread from last night. As I said there, I will have to break a rule and pay for a catch up viewing. Got to watch this.
the odd thing is, i'm pretty much built like ruiz but i couldn't knock my doris down
"Four times shall the prophet kneel
The Mexican shall sit on the throne
The price of petrol shall rise"

It's all there if you read Nostradamus properly.
He took defeat graciously.

:-)) Very clever

The very clever remark was to Jno.
Togo; yes, i'll no doubt catch up with it at some point. I see that while Wilder sent AJ a scathing message ("he wasn't a true champion, his whole career has been built on contradiction and lies", etc), Fury, surprisingly, sent him a quite supportive and sympathetic message, advising him to "rest up and recover." Crass and class.
it's like Tyson v Douglas again. Though after the event it became clear that Tyson had been on a 6 month bender and barely trained. I don't think Joshua skipped on training so that makes it a bigger shock. The thing is though these guys can knock a horse out if they connect so it's never a certainty.
Togo, it'll be on normal skysports in a week. Just search "joshua" and you can see all the fights, this one will join them after a week.
Nostradamus never got anything right did he?
I didn’t see the fight but the result brings back memory’s of the Liston v Clay debacle, personally I thought Sonny Liston was unbeatable.
Agree with Jordy,something not right.
UK produces too many "nice guy" heavyweights, popular with the populace, Joshua, Bruno, Gardner, Cooper as examples and nice guy's in boxing usually come second.
Our boys need to toughen up, get nasty, concentrate on winning the title and forget the nice guy image.
jordy, same with the rumble in the jungle, no one thought Clay could handle Foreman who was the Tyson of his era. He roped a dope and the rest is history.
Swift change of heart. I was going to pay to watch, but despite not being a tight wad I am not stupid either. Sky are asking for nigh on 20quid to watch a replay. No way Jose. Will stream it or wait. I note the comments about the peculiar outcome. "She who must be obeyed" is not what you would call a boxing fan, but even she said "there is something wrong there" when I told her the result. From what I have managed to see Joshua looked cooked by round 3 and the tap on the head that put him in trouble should not have put him in such dire straits.
Joshua looked as is he hadn't trained. Rui looked like he trained at Greggs. Beat Joshua up.
