which way is the wind blowing Mr Cameron?
This government is well known for the number and frequency of its U-turns, and this looks like another one in the series.
dose of realism, I'm glad that the PM is adaptable. Any party that fails to adapt to circumstances has no place in government.

Tora - thousands have told him that. But he's still there!
What happened to the spirit of Maggie Thatcher, conviction politics, not blowing with the wind blah blah blah.
The difference with this U-turn is that in this case he was right first time:-)
One small example of David Cameron's utter unwillingness to say anything he thinks might have even the remotest chance of being unpopular. Even on something as completely insignificant as his personal opinion of UKIP.

I agree with ichkeria.
thousands of fruitcakes have voted for the UKIP in South Shields by election and in council elections -beware the fruitcakes that what I say
Cameron has told people what he really thinks (though his views may have changed since then, and indeed Ukip themselves may have done the same). But his statement today is also correct; it's a waste of time insulting other parties, and by implication the people who vote for them.
Perhaps. But he was asked whether he stands by his sentiment of 6 years ago - a question which he avoided answering in a fairly spineless manner.

As per usual . . . .
Is it worth pointing out that the comments from " a few days ago" were actually made in 2006?
Question Author
Very true, factor. But it still makes good humble pie.
As has been pointed out the two statements do not denote change of mind. There are several things I have a different opinion on than I had 7 years ago, isn't that fairly usual?
Question Author
Yes Prudie, fairly usual.

But also the norm for Dozy Dave.
Cameron is fighting for his life, not just in Number Ten but in the Tory party as well. There is a shock of unruly yellow hair looking over his shoulder !

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Party kicks him before the next Election, rather than wait for 2015 Election Day, plus one.

Theresa May: "We are conscious that we need to work hard to get those votes back for the election".

They need to be conscious why they LOST those votes.
