A man has been arrested following a complaint that Crawley Town's FA Cup song featured a supporter mocking the victims of the Munich air crash.

Distasteful? certainly?

But worthy of arrest?

Can you imagine the outcry if he'd been arrested for mocking Islam?

Certain people on here would have been like pigs in muck!

"arrested under the Public Order Act on suspicion of causing harassment, alarm or distress"!? I know a few people that may need to go into hiding! I'm glad he wasn't a Christian!! Sodding ridiculous that is!

For me the same outcry, dont really see your point. The difference being of course he is not in danger of his life whereas a mocker of Islam would be.
Newton Heath originally Vibra
.. ''he is not in danger of his life whereas a mocker of Islam would be''..

Let him go to Old Trafford and sing his song, and we will then see if his life is in danger ..!
he needs to be arrested for dragging up a 53 year old news item.

i bet he still thinks england are the best team in the world and still have the jules rimet trophy in their cabinet.
On second thoughts you could be right there alav

Where did you get that headline from, the newspaper you are always criticising for being sensationalist?

It was the victims of the Munich air crash, he was mocking.

And making fun of Manchester United is not illegal, only the actions of this rather silly individual,.under the Public Order Act on suspicion of causing harassment, alarm or distress
AOG/Jake. Have you two swapped id's ?
I wonder if the United fan who made the complaint gets offended when his fellow United fans sing songs and make jokes about Hillsborough every time they play Liverpool.
Question Author
Nope I made it up AOG all my own work.

I must appologise for the lack of puns involved and my abject failure to tie the story into illegal immigration or even general racial issues.

Of course I guess I could have tried the other famous DM approach and gone with "Man U support - shock cancer scare" but I've not quite sunk that low yet
Making fun of Man Utd has always been a sport - certainly to us Northwestern'ers who are not their fans......

This is a bit much - distasteful yes and the Club took the right action, but wasting taxpayers money on a court case over this to a 19 year old is a bit rich......bo77ocking from a senior police officer, yes.....warning, yes.

Some jollies:

Q: Did you hear that the Post Office just recalled their latest stamps?
A: They had pictures of Manchester United Players on them ... and people couldn't figure out which side to spit on.

Q: What do you call 20 Manchester United Fans skydiving from an aeroplane?
A: Diahorrea

Q: What do you call a Man Utd season ticket holder?
A: Scenery...

Q: What do Manchester United Fans and sperm have in common?
A: One in 3,000,000 has a chance of becoming a human being.

Q: What's the difference between listening to Alex Ferguson's after-match interview and childbirth?
A: One's an extremely painful almost unbearable experience, and the other one's just having a baby.

Q: What have Man Utd and a 3-pin plug got in common?
A: They're both buqqer-all use in Europe.

Not sure what you are insinuating there YMB, any similarity between Jake and I, is purely accidental.

Perhaps if you care to explain how you came to this weird conclusion, I will do everything in my power to rectify matters.
I will add a caveat - unless he has previous form. If so, then fully justified.

Very, very poor indeed, not one of your best 'comebacks' Jake, but then if one is stuck for an answer, always best to throw in a few illegal immigration and even a few general racial skits, always gets one out of the corner.

And then failing that have yet another jibe at the Daily Mail, by adding "Man U support - shock cancer scare".

Then you say you haven't sunk that low, believe me you have, just being capable of thinking up such a thing is sinking to the depths.
Jake you are so out of touch with football and a few of the other AB users are showing their ignorance. Have a read of this old report

Well, all I can say is that if any thin skinned individual goes to Glasgow this Sunday lunchtime to a certain football match they'd be well offended before a ball's even kicked. Most of the 60,000 going to the game would be nicked if the above's anything to go by.

I've never been in touch with football 4846

I don't see the point in watching other people take part in a sport

However I am pretty shocked that the police would take a matter like this quite so seriously.
What is there about MU that makes them a target of humour?
I must say i agree with starrs on this one, no one bats an eyelid about Man scUm fans having a dig about the Hillsborough disaster every time they play each other and a lot more people suffered from that.

As for fearing for your life if you sang the song at OLD trafford I wouldn't have thought you were in much danger unless you are allergic to seafood, as the worst that would happen will happen is getting pelted by prawn and cucumber sarnies from all the posh southern glory hunters that follow the scum.
