scam
Look at the email headers raw message and youll see if wasn't PayPal.
I had one yesterday, the email address looked genuine & I can't see how a scam would work anyway by going into your own account with your own passwords & using their service.
^As long as you go in via your normal sign in not there email link
bob, there was no email link on mine, that's why I say there can't be a scam involved.

Paypal have been losing a large amount of customers through their 'woke' policies of closing accounts; people like Toby Young's Free Speech Union, just because someone in Silicon Valley didn't like what someone had said resulting in lots of people closing their accounts in protest, - they have now reinstated the account.
If no link then as you say it can't be a scam...either genuine or mischeovous. Still best to log into paypal

Thanks for all your replies,I cannot log on to Paypal as they have a very old phone number, over 10 years. I have rung them but having been kept waiting 40 min. I hung up.
I don't recall agreeing to any inactivity fee. If it's not a normal scam, then maybe it's a PayPal one.
It's nothing you can opt out of, it's part of the T&T's of having a PayPal account. I got an email about it some time ago. I use PayPal for most online transactions so have never been charged an inactivity fee.
I do use Paypal occasionally so wouldn't be liable for the inactivity fee. To be sure of avoiding it just pay a small annual subscription of some sort via Paypal which then comes out of your linked bank or credit card account.
... or close the account.
So , what are the advantages of using PP?
If you pay by PayPal, the person you are paying never gets your credit card details - reassuring if you aren't convinced they are reputable.
