morning, Wednesday midweek already, where do the days go. I hope that you are all in good health and that your day is a pleasant one. Do you have any plans for today?

I have a phone call at 3-4 or so from the hospital Occupational therapists/physio, to discuss my care after my operation, so will have to be ready for that. Other than that i have nothing further to do today

today's forecast for the capital is a lowly 18c with rain showers.

Morning Emmie. I managed to get a little bit of sleep. My tummy still feels dicey.

OH definitely won't be going to work today, he was bad last night.

Are you going to your brothers for Christmas again this year?

morning Lcg

sorry to read this, thought you would be on the road to recovery.

no i won't be going away for Christmas, as my operation on my left knee is on the 30th November and it's going to take some months for recovery.
Oh goodness, are you having a TKR?

What will you do for Christmas then?

a knee replacement, and i guess i will be on my own. I won't mind, my friends might pop round in the morning, to check on me.

i am more concerned about how i get home after the op with four flights of stairs to navigate.
Morning, Emmie and lCG. I had a bit of a "mini-adventure" late Saturday night. I went to sit in my desk chair in what I call the den/computer room; the chair wheeled out from me; and I fell on my back and cracked the back of my head on the hard-wood floor. I couldn't get up and phoned my sister. She drove over, cleaned up the wound and all the blood on the floor. Between the two of us I was eventually able to struggle into bed and she stayed the night. There is a perfect example that if you live alone you should always have your cell-phone on your person even if wearing pajamas.
Are there no lifts? Or is it not feasible for you to go straight from hospital to family for a period following discharge?

There really is no way for you to get up four flights of stairs when you've just had a total knee replacement, unless you've got hospital transport taking you home. And then what about fire safety?

morning Sanmac
Question Author
family are 70 miles away and i couldn't i don't think get in a taxi or their car.
looks like i will be housebound for a time.
I'm sorry to hear that, Sanmac. Are you okay now?

You're right, of course. It's imperative in such cases to have your mobile with you and for it to be fully charged.
Question Author
crikey Mac are you ok now,
Question Author
i live in a small block with only 8 flats so no lift.
i doubt i could stay with family as i mentioned they are 70 odd miles off.
I'm fine now, thanks. When my sister saw all the blood she wanted to call 911, but I told her that scalp wounds really bleed a lot. Anyway, LCG is correct about the stairs, so I'm sure that the hospital will arrange an ambulance home and you'll be stretcherd upstairs
Question Author
i expect you are right, that i will need to be stretchered home.
Question Author
OT/Physio might suggest that they can supply them Mac.
Emmie, given the circumstances, it wouldn't be unreasonable for hospital transport to take you to a family member, even one who lives 70 miles away, if it means ensuring your safety.

my brothers home is not set up for staying for long, they have a put u up bed in their second bedroom and not enough space to swing a cat. I wouldn't be anymore safe there than at home
