Ch 5 is showing a documentary about him tonight. I loved him when I was a kid and it will be interesting to see if I find him funny now I'm all grown up. The gurgling vicar had me in stitches.

I thought Benny Hill was 'rude' and even today he turns my stomach a little.
He was awful and I didn't like him.
I did like Dickie Henderson
never like Benny Hill, i found him very creepy.
Loved the days of Dick Emery " oh you are awful but I like you"they entertained us on Saturday night TV then Sunday night at the London Palladium, ,Dixon of Dock Green , Emergency Ward 10, loved them all and even as a young girl, I liked What's my Line
"Dad, dad, I think I've got it wrong again dad!". The humour was of it's time, same as Stanley Baxter, good in it's day.
Couldn't stand Benny Hill,euckkk
Dickie Henderson was a very versatile performer, great tap dancer and singer
I too found Benny Hill creepy, but I used to like Dick Emery. Doubt I'd find his humour funny today though.

Yes, I liked What's My Line, too. I still enjoy panel shows.
Question Author
Stanley Baxter came across as a lovely, kind man.
i find most panel shows a bore, there are ones like Q1 in its heyday were good.
Question Author
Strange how many comedians dressed as women in those days.
Dag, Stanley Baxter lived across from our friend in Paphos in a village called Tala, their villas were opposite one another's , he lived there with a young blonde man who he said was his PA ( haha) he's only just 'came out to the world aged 90
Remember Arthur Haynes? Up to my neck in muck and bullets. Nicholas Parsons was his stooge for a while.
Also Hilda Baker...

I still enjoy QI, I went off it a bit when Stephen Fry was making too many comments about choirboys, public school spankings and bottoms.
I liked Dave Allen. I watched a re-run recently and still enjoyed it.
