Does it mean that grief is the price that we ultimately pay for love, or that no one escapes grief, or both?

Until you give us a link to the parable it is unlikely that you willl get any opinion other than a facetious one (like this) ;-)
Thanks Naomi.. thank deity it wasnt too tediously long. What it means is that the shorter the parable the more it can be misinterpreted. Poor choice of seed though, a buddlea seed is almost microscopic yet grows into a large tree/bush. However it is only a parable so should be taken with a grain of salt.
