google map lines?

I see two pale blue lines on my google map, one horisontal, one vertical. When I click on the point where these lines intersect, the map zooms in and these lines are repositioned in a seemingly arbitrary way.

What are these lines on my map?

I can't see any purpose for their existence . . . other than to mystify me.

Since you posted in R&S, I suppose the only answer is that God put them there.

D'oh! Perhaps there was a better topic in which to submit this question.
I'd have thought they are stitching lines where the images are put together which would change as you change zoom and you go to a different set of pictures.

So best ignored as they serve no useful function?

. . . kind of like me innit ;o)
Oh, I wouldn't say that. ;o)
... but apologies about the 'innit'. I suspect you caught that from me. :o)

Believe me I've tried, but I just don't seem to go away . . .
Most likely :)

Especially if you are using google maps (the online one) as opposed to google earth (the program you download and install)

If you are using google earth then where are you looking when you see them, if it's up at the stars then it seems they are often caused by satellites (and other stuff) drifting across the shot during the long exposures.
And thank the Lord for that - cough, cough - as'they' say! :o)
Oops, cross posted.
Anyone tried doing a search for 'mibn2cweus' on goole maps? http://maps.google.co...&ie=UTF8&q=mibn2cweus
Can you all stop it with the innits, please.....

I feel like I've driven down the A12 to Basildon.

Thanks for that Chuck . . . I think? ;o)
I drove in the car to one of the lines shown ...
Sure enough, there was a ruddy great thick blue line going across the raod.
Chuck, I've been there. Odd innit. :o)

The Thames perhaps?

Dam, I've been spotted. Looks like I'm gonna have to behave myself from here on out.
