Are you and I the only people who can see what Pugwash is saying here? He has to be joking doesn't he? Please tell me you're joking Pugwash. So someone's mum (no idea whose) was a JW and because of that God saved all the miners? (Presumably most of those miners were Roman Catholics, a religion which, if this story is to be believed, clearly doesn't impress God at all because without that one JW mum they would all have been dead). And the religious apologists expect the rest of us to take that seriously? Good grief!! Difficult isn't it?!! Haaaa! :o/

I have come late to this but I will say this if you have no intellectual input and cannot put forth any sort of coherent argument why do you bother. Naomi makes some salient points, those points are to be argued and debated. Shouting at the moon says more about you than anything else. Atheists scare you because you don’t appear to have the intellectual tools to argue your point.

One point about God saving the miners? Who prayed for the mine to collapse and why did a kind and loving god allow them to be trapped in terror for 67 days.

Thanks Dave. I actually find it sickening that the religious refuse to give the real credit where it is due. If those trapped men had depended upon God to save them, there is no doubt whatsoever that every single one of them would have perished.

I can't believe you're still chuntering away on this one. To ignore the fact that the rescuers themselves, from the President down, were giving thanks to God is insulting to them and their faith.

It's rather silly to complain that the discussion is continuing Zabadak - we are talking about the subject of the question after all - and it seems, so are you. Anyway, that said, in giving credit to an invisible man in the sky these people are insulting themselves by undermining their own capabilities, their own tremendous determination, and their own intellect.

Are you certain that's what *they* think? As I suggested before, for some people, believing that what they do is a partnership with God is enhancing, not demeaning. It's absolutely clear that the Chilean president thought that way, and nobody seemed to think it detracted in any way from n appreciation of their phenomenal skills and commitment.
