Farewell to you all as I am disengaging myself from this forum. Your questions and responses have made for very interesting reading. When I occasionally participated, I was met with many inflammatory and negative remarks. I will continue to pray for all of you, as I have done since I first logged onto this site. May God bless you and may His Holy Spirit descend upon you like a dove.

Before you depart can you tell me the URL of a christian faith in USA that attracts 20k peeps 24/7 as shown on recent tv.
Lakewood? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lakewood_Church

tamborine?

Sorry to see you go USALady - guess the holy spirit isn't strong enough to convert us heathans and atheists!

thanx Jake.....this faith seems to be a spin-off of MacDs. You can buy a burger and choose to listen to lectures in the auditorium. Feeding the mouths often leads to feeding the soul?

Some christian churches need this lesson to fill them.

I am sorry to say USALady, but you have given up very easily.
What happened, USALady? Unless I've missed something, there hasn't been any nastiness at all here for quite a while now. When people disagree with you, obviously you're going to meet with, what you would perceive to be, negative responses, but if you want to discuss a subject, you have to accept that, and if you are truly convinced that your argument has merit, it shouldn't concern you. It's simply the nature of debate.

Having said that, if you've made your decision, then so be it. I wish you well.

I agree, naomi. I can't remember anyone saying anything 'inflammatory' to or about USALady, though if by 'negative' she means a disagreement with her then there have been many of those!

She probably didn't like my pointing out (in the post below this one) that she never responds to challenges to the claims she makes.

It's difficult not to agree with wiz, though I think the reason we won't miss her is that she declaims and preaches but never debates, which isn't much use to anyone.

Finally, it isn't very kind of her to wish her monster of a God upon me. Like setting a rottweiller on an innocent postman. Not charitable at all.
The bottom line is there is no justifiable argument for religion and therefore what is presented as argument simply does not, and cannot, stand up to objective scrutiny.
By By USA Hypocrite as with so many you can dish it out but you can't take it.

I never so any nastiness just disagreement.
USALady, If you ever do develop a taste for custard pie, come on back. They'll be waiting

By the way, I realise this is jumping the gun a bit but . . .
Happy Anniversary Chakka
Gosh,Mibs, what a memory!

And do I now feel embarrassed? Er...yes, I do. Oh dear, how can I recover face....? Ah, I know....

Well now, if you look back on that post you will see how so many of you implored me to come back one day. This gnawed away at my conscience for ages until I finally realised how selfish I was being in depriving you all of those pearls that you mentioned.

(Will that do?)

I now feel guity that I can't find it in me to make the same plea to USALady for her to return. Plainly I'm not as generous as you lot.

there is a saying among we christians 'there are no atheists on the battlefield' the call is usually oh! God. may you and your God be with you at all times
The last time that hoary and glib old saying was aired here I challenged the person repeating it to supply evidence that 'there are no atheists on the battlefield'.

Same challenge to you, grannie39. How many battlefields have been investigated and by whom? How many recorded instances of atheists calling for God? Where can we see the results of this research?
Conversely, grannie, it's an equally well-known fact among atheists that at the moment of death all Christians experience the sudden realisation that they've wasted their lives on a fiction...
oh god, here we go again, there are no true atheists only latent believers. FFS just WHEN will christians get it into there tiny, bigoted, thick heads that there ARE people who reject their ancient, mythological fairy stories?

Usalady,Whats happened to the feistyness and strong willed character that we've all grown to love? This site needs you, remember when francis said he felt like he was going mad and wanted to kill himself, who was it that convinced him that he must carry on fighting for his kids sake with those strong words,YOU DID!and when jennie23 did'nt have the courage to leave her violent alcoholic partner,YOU DID! QUITTERS ARE COWARDS! thats what you said, remember? We are here for you as you were there for us,dont let the barstewards get you down girl!
my father was an atheist until he thought he was dying - boy did he shout loud for God then......
Actually, although I was being sarcastic with my previous post, it being precisely as testable as grannie's silly claim, according to US researchers, those of a strong religious faith are more likely to demand aggressive end of life care:

http://www.boston.com/news/health/articles/200 9/03/18/religious_dying_patients_more_likely_t o_get_aggressive_care/

In other news, the Pope proves he is an anagram of a well-known king who attempted to turn back the sea with his pronouncements on condom use in Africa. One step forward ("Evolution is true") and one back ("Condoms actually increase AIDS" (even though they provably do the opposite)).

Anyone got any examples of anyone without a belief in gods
doing anything as a consequence of those views that is even close to be as criminal as that this week?
