Proverbs 1:20-33 says “How long will you inexperienced ones keep loving inexperience, and must you ridiculers desire for yourselves outright ridicule, and will you stupid ones keep hating knowledge?
Turn back at my reproof. Then to you I will cause my spirit to bubble forth; I will make my words known to you. Because I have called out but you keep refusing, I have stretched out my hand but there is no one paying attention, and you keep neglecting all my counsel, and my reproof you have not accepted, I also, for my part, shall laugh at your own disaster, I shall mock when what you dread comes, when what you dread comes just like a storm, and your own disaster gets here just like a stormwind, when distress and hard times come upon you.
At that time they will keep calling me but I shall not answer, they will keep looking for me but they will not find me, for the reason that they hated knowledge, and the fear of Jehovah they did not choose. They did not consent to my counsel; they disrespected all my reproof. So they will eat from the fruitage of their way, and they will be filled full from their own counsels. For the apostasy of the inexperienced ones is what will kill them, and the easygoingness of the stupid is what will destroy them.
As for the one listening to me, he will reside in security and be undisturbed from dread of calamity.”—Prov. 1:20-33.

We see from man limited experience in life, there are lessons you can learn from various situations, then you will be less apt to resent your own inexperience and be more receptive to the learning process, before is too late.

I did at one time but you get a better understanding from the new translations.
You might, I don't.
Do you have a synopsis ?

Listen to God or else you'll die.
Don't have their phone number.
Is that on a premium number?
The KJV is much better than whatever 'that' translation is. What's your question, Goodlife? Many of us have learn and do learn, others don't. We have free choice, same as we did at school, whether to listen to the teacher, or not. My Bible says, "For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not." So there you have it- we all get chances, appeals, opportunities etc, but it is our choice whether we listen or not.
Goodlife; In the quote from Proverbs, who is supposed to be addressing the reader? Is it meant to be God? If it is, how are we supposed to know that it really is God, and not some impostor? Why is the book called Proverbs? Why is it not called "I am God and Here is my Word? Do you believe proverbs in general? e.g. A Bird in the Bush is worth Two in the Hand, or Red Sky at Night, Shepherds' Delight?
Man has to first learn not to create Gods we no longer need
What baloney all this religion stuff is!
A caring, loving God who smites and kills or sends to eternal torment any soul that does not obey. What about all the souls that since time began ( millions and not 6000 years ago btw) have never heard of this god or maybe has no choice because their country is forced to worship a different one(s)?
Utter, ancient, Middle Eastern claptrap the lot of it!
I am sorry if this offends anyone but it is my sincere and reasoned belief after 71 years on this planet.
Alleluia!
well I prefer the septuagint LXX
οφία ἐν ἐξόδοις ὑμνεῗται ἐν δὲ πλατείαις παρρησίαν ἄγει

Goodlife; In the quote from Proverbs, who is supposed to be addressing the reader?

( first : it isnt a quote: the bit after the reference is a gloss from Goodlife's co-religionists and bears as much resemblancce to the original as my posts do to the original post.)

God addressing the reader - to wit the people of Israel ( unified ) say 500 BC - - " the latest (1:1–9:18) dates from the 4th century bc."

but the real question is what relevance to they have to us? today
Why is the book called Proverbs?
paraoimia in Greek if that is any help

can we up the standard of our comments please:
The Gospel of Mark - yeah foo I knew a mark once - darn da road. Did mo'ors - you like and he DID them. Yeah an dat Mark Thatcher, mummy's boy he was.

Did anyone see Waldemar Januczsk - art historian - on imagery of the Nativity?

why ass and ox in pictures considering they ( neeva) ar mentioned in the NT ?

well - Isaiah 1, 2 - he said - the ass and the oz know their stuff unlike the children of Israel

er - er

One-three....3The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master's crib: but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider.

But THEN as an art historian ( not a christian) he completely ignores the Christology (*)( because he doesnt know it see) that the Old Test at the time of the pictures were thought of as prophetic ( pre-quel) of the New Testament

(*) yes reader - - christology !

and so these refs are to bring the old into the new and say - "I told you so before." - This is not now 2000AD thought to be the function of the OT.

He completely ( Waldemar does) foo-foos the significance of the Three Wise Men ( one is black so they get a mench in these days of BLM)
It’s all Greek to me.
Ignorance masquerading as knowledge - how AB !

and sooooo the Three Wise Men are recognising the divinity of Christ by offering kingie things ( esp Myrrh and Franckincense) to show Christs kingship. - and this is mirrored by Christ being offered Myrrh on the cross - a sign of divinity as he died. Honour Before and aft kinda.

wasnt it gall? yeah, two versions one re-imagined to bring out the divinity

have fun boys and girls !

[Come on ABers- you can do it. flood the thread with gormless comments like: what all dat den. OT does that follow NT, coz O follows N in the alphabet yeah? OT what dat - I hate free letter abbreviations!]
that is because it was written in Greek you dimwit
hooray first gormless comment spotted!
thank you
