Following on from the horrific news of a little boy killed by lightning -

I am genuinly intrigued to hread how any of our Christian contributors can begin to reconcile this tragedy with the notion that their 'loving' God, who clearly allowed it to happen, could let such a loss be felt by his parents and family.

What part of 'God's Plan' is working here?

naomi - // When you escort your wife to church today, as you say you do every Sunday ... //

First of all, access to church is seriously restricted due to something called 'lockdown' - perhaps you have heard of it?

And secondly, I don't 'escort my wife' anywhere, I accompany her - I don't live in 1957.
Hmmm ... yes, of course - covid ... but plan B could be to give him a ring. That would sort it.

It would - if I were that bothered.

As far as the fervents on here, and their endless preaching and condescending, and their 'God's Plan' and all the rest of it - I honestly have the attention span and interest of a goldfish.

If they ceased posting tomorrow, by the day after i would have forgotten their names and their messages, I really only post about it when the mood takes me, the rest of the time, I am not even slightly interested.

Ii would have thought I had made that clear by now - clearly not.
Oh ...and there’s me believing you when you said you were genuinely intrigued. Silly me.
A psychologist would have a field day with this I'm sure.
I don’t doubt it, mamyalynne. Extraordinary.

I doubt it, there is very little to see here ladies!!
I guess this a cul de sac now.
I think so Theland.
He doesn't care.

''I don't care''.

(All together now :-)

''Heeeeee doesnnnnnnnt caaaaaaaaare!''

''Yer wot? Yer spoke? Speak up dammit!''

Theland - // I guess this a cul de sac now. //

Is that the get-out you need?

No need to think of answers to awkward questions?

If that's how you have to play it, that's fine with me, it's your faith not mine.
OK so we were at
"really cute kid dies - so there cannot be a God" -please refute - love AH

there is progress. we have got to:

"I dont care if you dont care- so there! it's your faif!"

Right. Is this the end? if N and Ah are involved - we know the answer is 'no' Carry on disputing boys and gurlz
It not an awkward question.
God doesn't need me to defend Him.
YOU need me, and others like me, to try and explain Him to you.
But, you don't care.
Theland, //YOU need me, and others like me, to try and explain Him to you.//

Your arrogance knows no bounds.
Question Author
Theland - you are wrong - again, I don't need, or want, anyone like you to explain anything to me, only your arrogance would imagine such nonsense.
If either of you ever get curious about God, you will need somebody to explain something about Him.
Of course you can just continue to criticise, and see where that gets you.
Who appointed you as an expert, Theland? Get over yourself.
Nobody did, but you two are clueless.
Theland, //Nobody did,//

That comes as no surprise - and when you’re preaching and dishing out unfounded threats it would serve you well to remember it.
I think I touched a raw nerve :-)
