After 55 years on this earth I prefer fact.
As much as it pains me, as much as it upsets me, I prefer facts over faith.
A few weeks ago I was nearly suicidal. Still prefer facts to 'faith'. If I had ended my life then, I would have been dead, end off, no atheist in foxhole here.
Just dont understand this religious preoccupation with living forever....
I honesty just dont get it?
What the hell are you going to to FOREVER?
It would be like watching a game of football that went on forever...there wouldnt be a point,

Yes there would. To be with God forever, eternal joy.
How do we know, none of us have died yet ?
I don't like God, theland.
He likes you.
Eternal joy /eternal torment. After a while I doubt you would know the difference (torment probably more interesting!). Gimme oblivion.
He really doesn't. Do we get a choice?
Those who seem most interested in living for ever must surely be those who're scared of dying, which seems rather odd for those who believe in an afterlife!
Nailit -what happens after death is not Fact nor Fiction -no one knows. Both you and I could be gobsmacked at point of death if we end up at the Pearly Gates with St. Peter saying 'Told you so!'
I believe in life after death, I just don't know what it's like because I've never been !

I agree,,,or even being welcome at the gates of Hades -no one knows so you can't say its 'fact' that there is not some sort of afterlife, even if its a scientific probability that everthing just goes black at death.
fact is stranger than fiction
Has anyone experienced a near death experience?
Where go through what you think is being dead and a whoooshhh brings you back?

And indeed I havnt stated a 'fact' have I?
Though the onus is on the one one stating such!

No one knows that the loch ness monster exists but the onus is on the one making the statment that it does.
Obviously I cant say that it doesnt...
My OH -very grounded no nonsense guy -had an experience after a car accident. He hit a stone wall head on in his car when he was in his 20's. He described floating up and he could see himself slumped at the wheel and described an over whelming sense of peace and a bright light. He said he was bobbing on a sort of string, then the next minute was yanked back into the car and woken by the horn on going off. Seriously he's not one for being overly 'airy fairy' but swears it happened.
Same question, different day . Some people believe in God. Some people don’t. It’s not complicated .
