I have a vague memory of Biblical quotes wherein Jehovah exhorts his chosen people to smite the Midianites and to destroy them and their cattle and their children and to spare only the women who please them so that they may do with them as they see fit.
I hope my memory is playing me false. Perhaps someone with more Biblical knowledge can put me right?

//Jesus rose from the dead.
That is what is different about Christianity//

Not only Jesus, but a few holy men with him according to Matthews Gospel. And not only did they rise from their tombs but went about preaching the gospel.
Strange that no other gospel writer thought to mention such a momentous event.
Strange that St Paul wouldnt have mentioned it.
Strange that ANY other New Testament writer didnt report it.
Strange that any contempory historians never mentioned it either.
Its almost as if it were fiction....
BTW,
Theres a precident of dying and resurrecting saviour Gods prior to Jesus.
The story is not unique.
///nailit; it appears that when it comes to Christianity and Buddhism, you seem to know little of either///

Sometimes in life you just got to laugh....
The silence here is deafening .... not even an apology to Nailit from Khandro.
Quite why you feel a constant need to criticize Christianity is beyond me. If you think it's all nonsense haven't you got better things to occupy your mind?
Research is good. Try it.
Research is cerebral, religion is transcendental.
You still owe Nailit an apology, Khandro.
The event in Matthew of the resurrection of the Saints in Jerusalem was prophesised in Isaiah ch 26v19
"Your dead shall live;
Together with my dead body they shall arise.
Awake and sing, you who dwell in dust;........"

Why the other gospel accounts dont mention it I dont know, but they dont mention the weather either

fiveleaves; going off topic?

So why are we constantly bombarded with exortations to ''Do our own homework''?
(as if its ours to do???)

And I did BTW!
Found it wanting....

More chance of been kicked by a snake.

Scraping the barrel much???

Nailit, leave him, he's not worth it!
If you would like me to put it into context for you please say...
Because you have delibritaly taken it out of ANY context...
I think its very sad that threads on R & S inevitably degrade from a discussion and exchange of opinion, to argument, and finally to cross examination.
Its not pleasant, and is in fact rather boring.
Could we not all raise our game a little?
Fiveleaves, //The event in Matthew of the resurrection of the Saints in Jerusalem was prophesised in Isaiah ch 26v19//

You don’t say! A bit like the Messiah riding into Jerusalem on a donkey then - also prophesied. You don’t think the authors of the gospels were aware of the prophesies… and constructed their works to dangle a carrot to the easily influenced?

Still, back to corpses rising from graves and trundling around Jerusalem. Wouldn’t you have thought the authorities would have noticed such an extraordinary event? Nope! Not a smidgeon.
There's always an explanation. Why would the authorities record it? Reports would probably be dismissed as some kind of hysteria and subsequently dismissed.
