In our usual spirit of mutual respect and friendliness, would you like to address the whole, "God Question?"

Is there a God? Proof?

There is no God? "Proof?"

Any general comments?

There is no evidence for the existence of a God.

It is not possible to prove that there is no God.

Beso - Thank you. One cannot prove a negative? Is that right?
If so, there is still the big questions to be asked and answers attempted.
Great fun eh?
This could be enjoyable.
Yawn!
No need to respond, khandro x
Atheists don't need to prove there is "no god". That would be pointless, as nobody has even yet proven there is one. That is the first step. If others then want to argue against it, they would need to disprove the proof. You have it backwards, theland.
You don't believe everything, unless proven otherwise.
Theland, for the vast majority of people, there is no 'God question'. It's an irrelevance to many of us. I don't begrudge anyone their faith, but that's what it is, 'faith', not knowledge, not based on any credible proof.

Thousands of years of philosophy and science are still working on 'the big questions' so I doubt that a night on AB will answer very many?
Have faith, nailit :-). I'm sure we can lol x
Faith as big as a mountain will not move a single mustard seed pix ;-)
Philosophy will never find out... those are just questions about questions. Psychology is most likely to explain it, imo.
Can I bring a trowel? X
Theland, can pix borrow your shovel, shes only got a trowel. I'd have thought that you may have finished that hole that you keep digging for yourself by now?
So, you can't prove my gods (i.e. Zeus, Athene, Apollo etc.) don't exist - that suits me fine, so let's hear no more of your religious tub-thumping - give us all a break.
Lol... I am happy to wait for theland's proof of God. Looking forward to it :-)
It's all a matter of belief (rather obviously). Some are happy to accept in God's existence based on books, stories and their upbringing, others need something more concrete to throw their faith behind.

As I said in a different thread, none of us will know for certain until we close our eyes for the last time.
It's the same question, Theland, and most people's answers will be the same no matter how many times you post it.

No

When people have pointed out how ridiculous the bible is I was quite surprised I didn't question it sooner (probably because RS bored me)

I don't believe in God.
I believe Jesus existed.
I don't believe Mary was a virgin.
I don't believe every Sunday I ate the body of Christ, it was just a wafer!
I don't believe statues cry.
I don't believe in stigmatas.
I don't believe in saints.
I don't believe Muslims have their afterlife full of virgins.

But I do believe there is something else, I just don't know what, just not a cruel and evil God.
You won't know then, mozz...
You will have no consciousness.
I have no doubt that we don't understand how brains work exactly- and until we have worked that out, it is pointless looking elsewhere really. We need to understand what comes from ourselves first.
Opinions, beliefs, delusions, hallucinations etc... all do. Why is this different?
Pixie, we'll know if He does exist. He'll be there looking at me disappointedly before pressing the trap door button.

Otherwise, I'll stay asleep
Yes- you may know... but how will you without a working brain? X
//Any general comments? //

Yes. Pointless question.
