I like the quote in this video from G.K. Chesterton.

I don't really follow a faith as such and I suppose you'd consider me largely a disbeliever but I feel very culturally Jewish but I was brought up in a Pagan environment so with mad splashes of that chucked in. I always struggle when people ask about religion because I never quote feel I ft into any one box because I feel spiritual but not truly religious. If I have to answer I generally say Jewish or Pagan depending on who is asking and why.
I used to be a hard atheist but now I lean more towards agnostic. I still don't follow any faith though and I certainly don't believe in the afterlife or man-with-beard-as-creator-of-the-universe.
On forms, if asked, I write; Taoist/Buddhist/Christian which is about right.
When I went into hospital last year the lady asked, "Does that mean you need a special diet?" I said, "yes, but not one of food"
Theland, //Richard Dawkins, is a believer in the multiverse//

No, he isn't a 'believer'. He thinks it's an interesting possibility. Big difference.
None but I sometimes use Pagan deity symbolism in meditation, as it helps me focus . I do not believe in those deities but rather in the powers or strengths they have come to represent. For example when struggling creatively I might meditate on an image of a goddess of smithcraft, or the mother goddess to clear in my thoughts what I need to do. Not asking for guidance just using them as a tool like a candle or singing bowl.
Both sides of the theist/atheist argument can argue forever and neither will change their stance because faith defies proof

Nims - Dawkins DOES believe in the multiverse. Plenty of evidence of him scrabbling around like a rat in a rubbish tip looking for evidence to support his dream.
Look into it yourself?
Theland, I've looked. Dawkins, absolutely sensibly, doesn't 'believe' in anything for which there is no evidence.
Question Author
Yeah sure! If you say so.
None, but I think the golden rule, 'Do onto others as you'd have them do onto you', is as good a way to live as any.
Theland, be sensible. If he is, as you say, scrabbling around looking for evidence, that's proof positive that he hasn't found it.

Sandy - Yes.
Hmmm....

Just look at the face on this gob shirt when his ballon is burst?
I was brought up with a faith but left it at 14 when I realised it made no sense...a nonsense if you like. I must admit I left it late...I stopped believing in father christmas a few years before.
//Just look at the face on this gob shirt //

And that from someone who a few minutes ago agreed with the Golden Rule.

Hence my subsequent 'Hmmm..."

How'd I know?

Sleep soundly, Theland.
Question Author
Off to bed now. Hospital tomorrow. Yippee! Good ole NHS.
Speak tomorrow. Thanks for your company. Appreciated!
Theland, I've just watched your video and I saw no balloon bursting. What I did see, however, were quotes from the Koran. Are you serious?!!
none, i don't believe at all in any religion.

THIS is the Dawkins video where his ballon bursts, courtesy of one of his heroes, Steven Weinberg.

Sorry for posting the wrong one in the heading.
