It amazes me how some theologians study to doctoral level, and learn nothing on the journey.
I feel sorry for this lady who has obviously wasted her time, and now speaks with apparent authority on a subject, God, that she knows so little about.
She is not alone. There are many such scholars who have cherry picked their way through the subject, without ever coming to realise the basic spirituality of the subject.
Even more disturbing is the fact that inevitably, her words will carry weight and influence by virtue of the letters after her name, when in fact she has nothing of any substance to say.
There are many Christian speakers who could tie her up in knots in minutes.
I would love to watch a debate between her and the likes of Ravi Zacharias, or others of comparable talent and spiritual awareness.
This lady is peddling snake oil, nothing more.
A rocket scientist who does not believe in rockets.
If only she humbled herself in prayer and allowed God to reveal His reality.
I hope one day she does.
Oh yes! I'm supposed to ask a question.
What do you think?

Theland, I make no claim to be a 'self educated theologian'', just someone who educated MYSELF rather than listen to the guff spouted from the pulpit. Ive posted before vids/articles debunking your so called prophecy claims.
As naomi asks above ^ what prophecies are you talking about?
No You Tube vids please, it gets tiresome, just chapter and verse will suffice.
//Is that all just amazing coincidence? //
No. Just confirmation bias.
“The Bible is the most widely read book in the history of the world, far outselling any other book, with 3.9 billion copies sold over the last 50 years. Many believe it contains the actual word of God.

But many people don’t realize that over the past 2,000 years, this sacred text has changed a great deal. No "first edition" exists. What we have are copies, the first of which were made hundreds of years after the events supposedly took place.

For the first 100 to 200 years, copies of the Bible were made by hand … and not by professionals. This led to many errors, omissions, and — most importantly — changes”

So how can you trust it?

There are two vids right here on this thread.
Did you watch them?
They are very comprehensive.
Watch them with your open bible and then point out what is wrong with them. Please.
Ive seen them. Your turn.
Now please show relevant chapter and verse and no more vids.
Going have a bath and my tea now. Will look in later to see what verses you can show me regarding Israel prophesies.
Question Author
Chrissy you are wrong.
Look at a few lectures by Daniel B Wallace to appreciate the reliability
Another scholar, who is also an atheist, Bart Erhman would also disagree with you.
Where did you get the information on which you base your assertions?
Question Author
The bible references are in the vids.
“Where did you get the information on which you base your assertions?”

Well it’s all over the net.

“Search and the shalt find”

“As most skeptics and atheists (as well as a number of well-educated religious believers) know, the Bible is a work of humans. As such, just as any other book, it has been edited and revised quite a lot over the last couple of thousand years. It’s not the purpose of this blog post to go into the details of who wrote what parts of the Bible when, nor will I get into the question of the numerous inconsistencies and contradictions contained within this supposedly “divinely inspired” book. (Though if you’re interested in those topics, I suggest starting with a basic primer on textual criticism of the Bible.)

Rather, I would like to address something which is easily verified by anyone: the fact that the Bible, contrary to the claims of many fundamentalists, is actually STILL being edited. And sometimes these edits have made quite significant deviations from the “original” text. Further, some of these edits have been made for what appear to be contemporary political purposes.”

Do you refute this?
The debate is endless, and will always be endless, but it boils down to two individual positions.

Take myself and Theland.

We both go to bed at night, we both get up in the morning, we both put our trousers on one leg at a time ...

The major difference is our belief in God.

Theland chooses to believe deeply in God, and spend a good deal of time and effort - on here at least - trying to convince others of his point of view.

I do not believe in God, and could care less if anyone else shares my point of view or not.

The only thing that makes one of us right and one of us wrong, is the belief of the person considering us - you think Theland is right, or you think I am right.

So it boils down to an individual point of view.

Theland is never going to convince me that he is right, and as a Christian, that bothers him deeply.

I am never going to convice Theland that I am right, and I really couldn't be less bothered if i tried.

I reckon I have the easier life, no fretting, no tgrying to explain a 'loving God' that hurts and kills inocent people every second of every day.

But like I say - only the belief system of the observer decides which of us is right.

There is no proof, just persepctive.

//Watch them with your open bible and then point out what is wrong with them//
Bit rich someone who has never read the Bible in its entirety telling me (who has) to sit with an open Bible. LOL, you couldnt make it up.

Chrissy, the bible is the original Hebrew of the Old Testament and the original Greek of the New Testament.
Any modified translations are simply not kosher, but updated translations from the original texts are made for all kinds of reasons, sometimes losing meaning in the process.
//but updated translations from the original texts are made for all kinds of reasons//
Can you tell me where the 'original' texts are please Theland?
Theland - // Any modified translations are simply not kosher, but updated translations from the original texts are made for all kinds of reasons, sometimes losing meaning in the process. //

We'd better all pulp our King James bibles then!
Why did god wait so long to give us Youtube where we can see all these prophesies?
Prophecies, perceptions, and ponderings.

Popcorn time for me.
Question Author
Nailit - you joking? You really need me to answer that?
rowanwitch"...Gods are created by man not the other way round "

That says it all really.

And some are a lot more appealing than Theland's stodgy version. How about the ancient Greek's Olympian version - much more realistic, and some were females too, so the misogyny so apparent in Christianity was almost completely absent with Gods like Athene well able to give a good account of herself - although Zeus could be a bit of a 6u99er sometimes ;-)
Question Author
Stodgy? That's a new one.
I think he’s God of Spotted Dick.
