I'm talking about mainly the "Big 3" Islam. Christianity and Judaism but you can include any other religions you know about.

Why did god allow man to live thousands or millions of years without religion and in "In sin" and then chose his time deep into the future and near the end of the world according to Christianity and Islam (Does anyone know whether Judaism is too?)

It's almost like your teacher suddenly thrusting a years work of studies at you in the final 2 hours of class and telling you that there's an exam in one hour and if you fail it you fail all of your exams and will be burnt and thrown into an eternal fire filled with suffering for eternity.

Scary stuff!

What's your take on how religion was "delivered" to mankind?

T-Rex?

And anyway, what does "a yearning for faith" have anything to do with anything? Just because you have a yearning for something doesn't imply that said thing must exist.
My post was in response to the one suggesting that cavemen weren't ready to receive Gods revelations.
Obviously god had to create the printing press before religion could really take off. Once the 'word of god' could be mass produced and distributed widely, wholesale slaughter could be justified anywhere on this planet especially after he created the kalashnikov AK47.
this task of trying to save souls doesn't get any easier
Sorry Henrietta but I couldn't get beyond your first few words " If there is a God"
You are wrong in assuming that God waited millions of years before he sent any prophets or giving them message. According to Islam Adam (pbuh) was the first ever human and he was prophet too. Then Islam it is believed that God sent messengers to every single group or nation of people. Almost 124K messengers according to Islam were sent but only 25 have been mentioned by name in Quran.

So, mohammed doesn't amount to that much after all. One in 124k is pretty insignificant.
If I was numbered among the 124 richest people in the world I'd think that pretty significant.
sandyRoe, 124K.

Keyplus, only 25 names out of a claimed 124K. Aren't you even just a little bit suspicious?
Even if it was 125K I'd still be happy to be in such an exclusive club.
I knew you were going to say that. Just call me psychic. I've been called worse. ;o)

The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster has as much going for it as most religions. http://www.venganza.org/ At least it has never killed anyone.

It is not wrong to ask why. Some worry that asking such a question means that they do not have enough faith.

So when reading the Bible, you will find that faithful, God-fearing people had similar questions. For example, the prophet Habakkuk asked Jehovah: “Why is it that you make me see what is hurtful, and you keep looking upon mere trouble? And why are despoiling and violence in front of me, and why does quarreling occur, and why is strife carried?”—Habakkuk 1:3.

So then at the end of the day it is only those who know Bible know why.

//God must be getting seriously bored with all this gloop //

Possibly not,but I am.
What answer did Habakkuk receive ?
sandyRoe @ Read for your Self, because to know the answers to such questions in order to have a meaningful life.
Jesus said at Mat 5:3. I can’t do it for you.

Just a matter of time, then it will be accepted as a true religion...
Funny how atheists are so keen to decry those of us with faith.
Further to earlier answers, man wasn't around when the T-Rex was skipping around. Also, man, in any meaningful sense, has been around for 200,000 years and not for millions of years. Please leave us Christians alone for a few days will you? I, for one, try not to do anyone else any harm. A little respect for our views might be nice.
Scooping - In my mind atheists are the people with no peace of mind. They go round and round in circles, spend so much time and waste too much energy in trying telling people about someone they do not believe exists, God. Funny isn’t it?
The issue has never been with those who presume some god exists. The problems arise as a consequence of those who believe they know (in spite of holding conflicting ideas with others about) what god wants or that god needs their help.
