The Bible states, “and his ears are toward their cry for help.” (Ps. 34:15) How important it is, then.............Prov. 3:5.

Baldric - how is the arm?
-- answer removed --
RobKep - does that mean that is Jesus wants you for a sunbeam, your response is likely to be in the negative?
I am still trying to get my mind around LoftyLottie's sadness at not having a faith. Is she also sad that she doesn't believe in astrology and crystal-gazing (assuming that she doesn't)? How can you be sad, LL, at preferring truth to superstition? That's a question, not a challenge.
chakka - i do think it is possible to be sad about the absence of the comfort that a faith can give, but that doesn't put the faith there.

personally, having watched Christians have their faith tested, and sometimes destroyed on a minute-by-minute basis in this world - I am glad not to have a faith, only to have it battered and questioned every time i turn on the TV or open a newspaper.

Priests say that our calamities are man-made, but that does not sit with a loving and forgiving God. We do suffer, but that is because circumstances make us that way - not because 'God' is testing us for our faith.
//No the Scriptural record does tell us of true Christians being organized back like that, but if the structure of the Catholic Church is in line with that of the early true Christians, how is it that we find absolutely no mention of it, not even a hint regarding such an elaborate system? //
Charles Taze Russell isn't mentioned either.
Vulcan - to hoist goodlife by his own petard - "... some fell on stony ground ..."
//and goodlife, please do not go preaching all you Bible clap trap, no one wants to hear it!! //

RATTER15

This section seems to positively gorges itself on , as you put it ,
'Bible clap trap '
If Christanity , Muslim faith , etc etc did not exist , there wouldn't be a
' Religion & Spirtuality ' section - then what would you all , talk about ?
Bazile - we do talk about religion, except for goodlife who, if you'll pardon the expression - preaches.
Incidentally , i'm not expressing my opinion when I quote the phrase ' bible clap trap '
Mark 16:15
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world,
and preach the gospel to every creature.

You cant blame goodlife - he's only doing what he has been commanded to do

Bazile - I can ... believe me I can!

When I say 'preach' - I mean it strictly in the 'I talk, you listen, I understand, you don't ...' and who needs that?
the line from the hymn:- 'What a friend we have in Jesus' helps me.
It's the line-Oh what peace we often forfeit, o what needless pain we bear, all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.
Cupid, //...... all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.//

That’s not true though, is it? It would suggest that praying to God is the answer to pain and suffering. I’ve no doubt that, in your own mind, your prayers bring you some comfort, but God doesn’t alleviate pain.

This proved to be true, Jesus prophesied: This good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come. (Matthew 24:14)

Whether they will accept the good news or not is a matter of personal choice. There is no compulsion. If there were, conversion would be meaningless. To be acceptable to God, worship must come from the heart.
Basil,, I have no problem with Goodlife discussing the Bible or religion, I was refering to his constant preaching without actually taking part in a discussion, or just copying and pasting
Goodlife, //This proved to be true//

How so? Do you know the meaning of 'proof'? You can hardly claim that 'proof' may be found in words attributed to a man whose very existence cannot be affirmed, so where is this 'proof'?
goodlife You can not use the bible to prove the bible . That's like a murderer using a spouse to supply an alibi.

Depends what you consider by distressing and 'lean'.
To answer your question I lean/rely only on those capable of helping.
1.myself 2. my family 3. medics after that it's police and social services.
goodlife I was just thinking of the most distressing event in my life was when I lost my wife and I received the greatest comfort of all from my cats.
They needed me I needed them . I would place them even above my family in enabling me to cope with that situation. They were there 24/7 for months
on end.
