I want to put a spyhole in my front, but seem to remember reading somewhere at it will jepodise the guarantee of the door which was put in with the double glazed windows.Any opinions on this??

If I can put one:
I have seen door knockers the same as the one I now have but with the spyhole incorporated.I could then replace it with this but have to be sure it is exactly the same size as cannot be making more holes in the door.
I cannot find them in the shops ,only online, really need to see it before purchasing.
Have looked in B&Q,Wickes and Homebase...does anyone know of anyw else I can look?

Why not try and ask the company that fitted the door. They might be able to retro-fit one and stay within the guarantee.
The door company did mine Alice.............they also fitted a security chain.
I had one of those once and didn't like it at all. It made everyone look very peculiar and I still couldn't tell if it was friend or foe.
The best I ever had was a letterbox which went down the door instead of across and at eye level. My husband welded a little handle to it so that whenever someone came to the door I just pulled the little handle and peeped out. It was brilliant and I could talk through it if I didn't want to open the door.
What you should be searching for is .. A door viewer for a UPVC door, it should be suitable for a door usually 20-35mm thick. Most viewers suit doors from 35mm upwards.
I've fitted dozens of them, but my supplier will only sell you them in boxes of 50.
Have a look here .. http://bit.ly/PWubSZ .. too many to choose from ?

A local handyman would be a much cheaper alter native.

As long as he is not a "cowboy" !!!
ask around Kloof, word of mouth is good advertising (or bad if they are cowboys)
the company who did the lob 3 years ago would still welcome the work-or they could suggest someone to do it-
if that fails-ask in your local pub-always a cert
