'humble'?
n; Why? - really?
j; :-)
<<a life based purely on "logic, rationality and reasoning">>

I don't think these are incompatible with a sense of 'sprituality'

What is incompatible is the illogical, irrational and unreasonable reliance on invented religions or the imagined certainty of beliefs based on nothing more than wishful thinking.
spirituality even ...
Khandro, yes, really. Why?
Zeuhl; I have just skipped through the previous 40-odd posts and you are the first person to mention spirituality, of course you are free to bring in whatever you wish though.
How many of these simple and impressionable souls were in the audience? How many were watching at home? Surely there are enough programs to cater for their needs at that time of night. The whole story might well be hogwash.
Khandro, you said //A person leading a life based purely on "logic, rationality and reasoning" is, in my humble opinion, the one to be pitied. //

I've asked you why. Any chance of you telling me why you pity people who lead lives based purely on logic, rationality and reasoning?
n; Is that how you would describe yourself then?
Khandro, I get the impression you've made a statement that you've no idea how to justify.
khandro

<I have just skipped through the previous 40-odd posts and you are the first person to mention spirituality>

Yes sorry. I was making an assumption. You queried <life based purely on "logic, rationality and reasoning> and implied there was something missing.

I was suggesting that spirituality might be an omitted but valid element.
n. I know how to justify, do you know how to answer?
So if you know how to justify your statement as I've asked you to (twice), please do it. Until that's done no one knows what you're talking about, and hence, cannot answer your questions.
Naomi, as Sandy once described atheists 'as slippery as a cran of eels' I think Khandro must really be an atheist but perhaps a little manqué. Keyplus could take a few tips from him on how to avoid answering questions.
I wonder why? Seriously. I don't know why some people bother to post in the first place if they're not prepared to 'put their money where their mouth is' - so to speak.
I have asked a simple question to naomi; Do you lead a life based purely on "logic, rationality and reasoning", but like the slipperiest of eels, she is avoiding to answer, so jom, I extend the question to you.
Khandro - “... [Birdie] leading a life based purely on 'logic, rationality and reasoning' is, in my humble opinion, the one to be pitied...” [08:35 Fri 03rd Aug 2012]

I would also ask why you think that to be the case but since Naomi can't get a straight answer out of you on this matter, I don't think that I have much of a chance either.

It is quite obvious from the various exchanges that have occurred between yourself, Naomi and others that you have no clue as to how to justify your above statement to me or to anyone else and even worse, you are now trying to weasel your way out of an explanation by falsely claiming that Naomi is being 'slippery' by having the temerity to ask you for an honest answer!

This really is flagrantly dishonest, unpleasant and quite absurd.

How very Christian of you Khandro.
Khandro, I will do you the courtesy of answering your 'extended' question though I really don't expect you to reciprocate. Of course I don't live a life based on "logic, rationality and reasoning". I apply those principles where I think they matter and when I can. Apart from that I am a slave to my instincts, emotions and experiences, just like everyone else. They don't get in the way of enjoying the sensual world, they probably enhance it and certainly help with solving the problems that life throws up. Perhaps you would now care to answer some of the questions that have been asked of you.
jomifl; Thank you for an excellent answer.

"...as slippery as a cran of eels." Did I write that? I've coined a phrase and it's rather good.
