if they are so convinced they are right, so smug that theyve got life sussed and are totally happy with that...why waste so much time an energy trying to convince other?

especially when they are met with such opposition...

why not just shrug, say whatver and move on with their lives...why are they so obsessed with gathering support?

cheers

“Thanks for your die hard efforts time and time again.”

You are very welcome my illogical, dishonest friend. I shall strive to keep you from spreading your lies as long as I remain an active member of AB.
Is it Muslim women that have to walk at least 2 feet behind the man at all times? Forgive me if I am wrong, easily confused x
^^^ There's no religious compulsion for Muslim women to walk behind their husbands (or men in general) as far as I am aware.
Thanks birdie :-) must be confusing it with another religion x
why are you trying to convert people to atheism?
I think it's more a cultural thing that comes from the far east. It is also practised in certain African countries too...

http://www.economist.com/node/17204625

From the above article, “Traditional customs die hard [in South Africa]. President Jacob Zuma has at least 21 children by at least ten different women, four of whom he married; he is now engaged to another, who is pregnant. In certain rural areas women are still expected to walk a few paces behind their husbands. In KwaZulu-Natal thousands of bare-breasted maidens display their virginal beauty in a dance before the polygamous Zulu king, Goodwill Zwelithini. In villages in the eastern Cape teenage girls continue to be forced into marriages with older men who treat them as virtual slaves. Women who do not fit into the community are still sometimes burned as witches. Lesbians are gang-raped to “cure” them of their follies.”

Seeing as women represent 50% of the entire human race, some of them seem to get a pretty raw deal from the other half.
Thanks again birdie x

“Why are you trying to convert people to atheism?”

I assume you're asking me this question; and the answer is, I'm not. I'm simply pointing out that Islam does not afford women equal rights to men. I'm also saying that certain societies treat women appallingly.

If someone has a religious belief then they are welcome to it. I only take offence when people attempt to misrepresent their religion by telling lies about what their religion says about X, Y and Z.
////Absolutely right, birdie. And keyplus's response is absolutely par for the course. Which is why I gave up trying to debate with him years ago.///

Yeah, You just proved couple of posts above that it is not just mere propaganda. One thing I do like about my atheist brothers. They do back each other whatever the situation. And usually they are willing to ramble without a break on the websites where no one can see them but are rarely willing talk to face to face. Even their prophet Dawkins proved that very recently. And finally they would always blame others for not being willing to debate. But then there is an old saying,

“Tell lies so consistently with confidence that it should start sounding like truth”. And that is what they are master of. And they call it logical talk or rational talk. What a shame, how much someone can deceive himself.

Roxie – To answer your question I would only say that I usually walk couple of yards behind my wife. So I must be wrong sort then. Thank goodness I was around and therefore my little birdie had to tell the truth (for a change) otherwise he would have CREATED a verse from Quran to prove that Muslims ask their wives to walk behind them due to this verse in Quran.
keyplus,
" “Tell lies so consistently with confidence that it should start sounding like truth”. And that is what they are master of. And they call it logical talk or rational talk. What a shame, how much someone can deceive himself."

A pretty accurate description of you and other deluded "believers".

“... Thank goodness I was around and therefore my little birdie had to tell the truth (for a change) otherwise he would have CREATED a verse from Quran...”

I always tell the truth Keyplus. I don't create verses from the Koran. I don't need to. Like every other 'holy' book, it condemns itself. I simply repeat its appalling theology in order to bring it to the attention of yourself and others. The fact that you consciously refuse to see anything evil, dishonest, or morally dubious in its pages shows how deluded and dishonest you truly are.

“... One thing I do like about my atheist brothers. They do back each other whatever the situation...”

Continuing with the irony... muslims, on the other hand, never back one another up. Every muslim is completely impartial. I've never seen or heard of one muslim backing up another purely because the other person shared their religious belief...

“... What a shame, how much someone can deceive himself...”

Indeed. What a shame.

Rather like your insistence that women are afforded equal rights to men under Islamic law – which they are not. Or, that [your quote], “... and Islam does not say that apostasy should be punished with death...”, when in fact, it does, as I demonstrated previously here...

You've lost me. What are you talking about? Can you provide a link to this apparent story?
My dear birdie – I do try my best to ignore your posts but then your propaganda is so strong that for others (who might be interested in true Islam) I will have to reply.

From the thread you posted,

//// Koran (4:89) - "They but wish that ye should reject Faith, as they do, and thus be on the same footing (as they): But take not friends from their ranks until they flee in the way of Allah (From what is forbidden). But if they turn renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them"////

I am sure you can read English as it is your language and you know the meaning of “BUT IF THEY RENEGADE”. So I don’t have to say more after that.

////Koran (9:11-12) - "But if they repent and establish worship and pay the poor-due, then are they your brethren in religion. We detail Our revelations for a people who have knowledge. And if they break their pledges after their treaty (hath been made with you) and assail your religion, then fight the heads of disbelief - Lo! they have no binding oaths - in order that they may desist."////

Again I am sure you can read and understand English, “And if they break their pledges after their treaty (hath been made with you) and assail your religion, then fight”. Do I need to say anything after that.

I do wish my birdie that ONLY ONCE you read Quran yourself instead of copying and pasting and it may show you the right path. After all you are an atheist and atheist always like analysing things THEMSELVES instead of relying on others.

[Behold, as for those who come to believe, and then deny the truth, and again come to believe, and again deny the truth, and thereafter grow stubborn in their denial of truth — God will not forgive them, nor will guide them in any way.] (An-Nisaa' 4:137)

[And say [O Muhammad]: 'The truth [has now come] you're your Sustainer: let, then, him or her who wills, believe in it, and let him or her who wills, reject it.] (Al-Kahf 18:29)

Over to you now.
But Keyplus, you seem to forget that posting this nonsense from the Koran means nothing to an Atheist, it is just nonsense that was written a long time ago to try and frighten the masses into submission to gain control over them.

Absolute nonsense as is the Bible, written for the gullible like yourself.
When was the last time you read Quran?
Keyplus -

You seem to have lost the plot; in the most literal sense.

I initially posted about the fact that women are not afforded the same rights as men under Islamic law. What are you doing? You appear to be posting passages from the Koran which relate to people who reject the Islamic faith. It seems that you are attempting to steer this debate away from women's rights and are instead trying to focus on the punishment for those of us who have chosen rationality over lazy, childish fantasies.

“... I do wish my birdie that ONLY ONCE you read Quran yourself instead of copying and pasting...”.

It may surprise you to learn that I have read the Koran. I find it amusing that people such as yourself think that none believers would suddenly 'see the light' if only they would read the holy texts – that they would be instantly converted to belief in an all powerful God if only they would read the hallowed words. Your faith in your holy book is so complete that you honestly believe that to read the words is to make believer out of the reader.

Why don't you address my earlier point? Women are not afforded the same rights as men under Islamic law. Why don't we debate that topic?
Keyplus - “When was the last time you read Quran?”

I have a translation of the Koran by a gentleman called Abdullah Yusuf Ali. I read it from cover to cover in 2005 whilst on holiday in Australia. Has it changed a lot since I last looked at it?
Joko, perhaps it's because the religious need other people to endorse their beliefs.

Keyplus, //But only for you as you are special breed when it comes to thick walls surrounding the brain that Allah has given you,'//

First of all, your god didn't give Birdie, or anyone else, a brain; secondly, if you were truly confident that your arguments were of sound substance you would have no reason to resort to childishly irrational personal insults; and thirdly, why do you keep asking people to meet you face to face? Coming from an anonymous someone on an internet website it's rather creepy, you know.
