We are off to a wine tasting evening soon

Have you ever been?....what did you do?

Would you just use it to get sloshed, or spit in the bucket as you're supposed too?

( Could be some interesting answers here!!)

Spitting is a disgusting habit and no call for it bucket or no......swallow as much as you can especially if it's free.get a taxi home. Enjoy!

Respect, razzle....my thoughts exactly.......would seem a shame to waste the opportunity!

There's an ABer called WineBuyer ... he does that for a living. He's not on much anymore.

I met him last year, and he invited me to a proper, professional wine tasting in London.

I told my friends I had a business meeting in London (pathetic lie), and skived off for the day.

Bottom line ... I swallowed it all.

All the "professionals" were cleverly discussing the wine market ...

... and I got absolutely ratarsed.

I'd driven up, but I had to abandon my car, and get the train home.

Then ... I had to confess what I'd been doing, and get a friend to go and retrieve my car for me.

Rumbled!

I still get teased for it.

omg ... I was SO trolleyed that day.

You will have to read up on the phrases that they use, like......'yes, quite a fruity little number'.................not....'omg it's ****, tastes just like vinegar', whilst spitting it out in the bucket....................lol.
Good girl. A woman after my own heart.

I have always, apart from one very posh occasion, swallowed.
sorry, that was *sh!t*, btw
Isn't that the 'in' joke with you salla?
Do you spit or swallow?
;-)
My cousin is a wine buyer for tesco's. The perfect job imo.
yogi....if it is a "non-professioanl do" then do as you suggest.........drink the bloody stuff BUT if it is a professinally arranged wine tasting then:

Sip it...slosh it around the mouth, and spit it out into a receptacle. Then savour the "after taste" then after a few minutes nibble a piece of cheese and then taste the second wine and continue the same regime.
Spitting is just anti-social.

This thread is becoming "a la Salla" !!

sqad is right.

Take it into your mouth.

Don't just savour the taste, but also the body and texture.

From the taste, you will detect what has gone into the area that it came from ... herbs, spices, minerals, etc.

The only way to get a real feel for the after-taste is to swallow it.

Sometimes, a bit can run down your chin, so be careful.

Also, try to get a good, big mouthful. A pathetic little dribble in your mouth won't be much good.
Are you still talking about the wine Jayne?

My mind was wandering there........................sorry.
;-)
Vibe ...

"I would spray it over someones face, try to get it into her hair"

Presumably that only works with sparkling wines.

But ... it seems a shame to waste it like that.

Would there still be enough left to drink?
Bazzy ... yes, obviously (!)
I got to the bit where you said 'a bit can run down your chin'..............and I came over all funny.................
lol.
