Jaqui Smith's a muslim? Coo the Mail will explode!

Can we stop calling it a Christian country anyway?

At least until more than two old dears and a tramp stop being the average Sunday congregation
why don't we declassify religion to a pass time? this would cover people who have no religion instead of making them feel left out. after all, it is something alot of Christians only practice on their day off (Sunday)
Do the names Dr Yusuf al-Qaradawi and Louis Farrakhan mean anything to you?

Both banned from entering the UK.

But of course, that is a bit inconvenient to your argument isn't it.
i know one wants to ban a book, just heard it on the news, i shouldn;t listen to the news it is too diffiult to pick up the storylines, this is why soaps are good

No ! Because someone else is banned doesn't make a bit of difference.
Your question:

So we have established that

1) the decision was made by people who weren't Muslim 2) that other decisions of a similar ilk were made banning Muslims.

So how much of a prat are you?
: ( just ignore me then. I'll not interrupt again

Over-generalising again are we jake, have you ever been into a church?

There are thousands of couples who decide to get married in a church, and then go on to have their children baptised in church. And even very many chose to attend church on a Sunday. But then perhaps not in the crowd you hang around with.

And yes we are still a Christian country......

The Royal Family go to church.

Their Coronations take place under Christian ceremony

The Lords & Commons chambers are open with prayers (do members of other faiths step outside during prayers)?

Most people are given a Christian send off at the end of their days.

What have I missed then? What do you mean "Muslims decide who can and cannot enter the UK"?. Since when, bloody cheek?
I think church attendance is now below 5% AOG.

Glad you brought up the Royal familly because as I recall Charles expressed an interest in being called defender of the faiths (plural)

Having a Christian wedding no more makes someone a Christian that wearing a jewelry cross does!

only 38% of the country believes in a God let alone the Christian one

So if you take out all those millions of muslims you're convinced are here that gives me 2 old dears and a tramp.

I've never been to a church service voluntarilly- When was the last time you went to one?

Christian Country my foot!
Better christian than muslim jake!!!
I object to the way that our traditional places of worship have been torn down and relaced by these garish new buildings.

I don't even know where my local henge is anymore. They seem to have ben replaced by these new-fangled 'churches'.

Yet another way that Europe has eroded our country's heritage.
I see no reason why we shouldn't be declared a secular state like France, Germany, Italy and many others.
And get rid of the 26 Bishops that reside in the House of Lords by virtue of the fact they are peddlers of mumbo jumbo.
I'm a Christian but not a church goer. Christianity is a way of life and has I think differing values and tenets to other beliefs. May I stress I say differing - not better or worse.
Well the Lords Spirital were removed for 20 years in the 17th C, so no doubt it could be done again. They don't normally vote on matters of law or state anyway so it would seem to be a token gesture - not sure what would really be greatly achieved, but I'm all for it.
Octavius why are you for something which may upset some people and yet in your own words make little or no difference?
Who will it upset? (apart from the Lords Spiritual)

They serve no tangible modern day function and ordinarily do not exercise their voting powers. So any lobbying or parliamentary opinion could be just as easily conveyed from outside the House.

The United Kingdom should be a secular country. The Church or any other religious body should not be allowed to interfere with the running of the country. Why the church still has this influence, when its adherents have dwindled so much is down to historical reasons which no longer apply. They don't do anything they are just symbolic of the past.
Yes Gromit we have a lot of things symbolic of the past - and we don't appear to be replacing them with anything better!!
