medical in spain

I have lived in spain for two years now.
I am 58 and was only given 2 years medical cover here.
I have worked all my life in the UK, and paid my stamps.
I think it is awful that everyone seems to benefit from med cover in the UK but not in other European countries.
Anyone else have a story to report on this ?

No story to tell, but I wish the UK was the same, instead of being a soft touch and suckers picking up the bill.

You Need Form E111,From Post Office Here In UK,
All EU Country's Have Recipricated Medical. If You Need
Doctor Or Hospital You Show Your E111 Card.
As Simple As That. The Only Use A Private Insurance Has
It Cover's Flying Home A Deceased Body.

There is no longer a Form E111. But there is a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).

We live in Greece and have no trouble getting medical treatment using the card.

Surely the EHIC is only for travellers, not those resident in another EU country?


People who are ordinarily resident in the UK are entitled to a UK-issued EHIC. It is not valid for people who are going to live abroad

i totally agree i amfromengland and amlivivg inbrazili think its completely rediculous in england there are allkinds of benefits.but here you can not get child benefits and the health care no nhs or anything i pay a health plan and the one i am on is not worth what i am paying for it.

I seem to have done all I can , I rang Newcastle and it was them that told me that a person only gets 2 years medical here. I took out Residencia here. I think I will have to go back to the UK as i need two ops and dont have the funds.
Easier said than done. The house market is slow.
Oh well thats life.
