As it appears that the Taliban have very little respect for the female gender and think of them as second-class people I have been wondering why they (Taliban) do not embrace homosexuality. Surely that would fit their ideals more.

As I said Just thinking.

Spicerack - // Raping young boys seems to be part of the Afghan culture.
Whether the Taliban stop it happening, I don't know. //

Rape is nothing to do with sex, it's about power and control.

Men who rape or abuse boys sexually are often not homosexual, because as I said, rape is not about sex, it's about violent control and subjugation.
Saw an 8yr old boy get hanged in Iran*.
His crime; he'd been raped by an old bloke.
*On TV.
13:33 Gromit, so you think we should have Sharia law here then?
So you wouldn't take them gulliver. Clearly your not a true labour man then or a tory or liberal or snp. Ah must be monster raving loony party
danny: "The big difference between the Taliban and the U.K is that all on your list are crimes in the U.K and none of them are in Taliban land. " - Rape is a crime under Islam, well, being raped that is!

// The Crime Survey for England and Wales shows 144,000 women were victims of rape or attempted rape in the last year for which these figures are available.
But just 59,000 rapes were actually reported to the police last year. //

59K or 144K - that is a lot of disrespect for women.
Gromit, it doesn’t even come close to the lack of respect the Taliban - and Islam in general - has for women.
// you think we should have Sharia law here then? //

Nope.
I don’t think we should lecture others when our own house is definitely not in order either.
OK Gromit, I agree that it shows a lot of disrespect for women.

I would hate to be a woman under their control.

So much fear that they generate for their victims.
Gromit,//our own house is definitely not in order either.//
Oh! caome on, you cannot compare what has happened in the UK with what is happening every day in Talibanland.
Gromit, in your attempt to defend the indefensible you’re forgetting that in British law those crimes are regarded as crimes.
lefties like gromit always amaze me, they'll pebble dash their screens with organic peace porridge at the slightest hint of a phobia or an ism from anyone civilised, yet they'll move heaven an earth to defend the practices of Islam. YCMIU!
I am not defending Islam.
I am just saying there is still a lot to do in this country, and our record isn’t good.

Obviously there are no stats on femicide, rape and domestic violence in Afghanistan. They could be a hundred times worse than our stats. Or they could be half - no one knows.
naomi24,
I can assure you, I have not forgotten murder, rape and violence are crimes in the UK.
Having a law against it does not stop it happening.
Gromit, your wonky thinking does women in Islam no favours at all.
Gromit //Or they could be half - no one knows.//
But everybody can make a good educated guess from what is a daily occurrence with the Taliban.
i dont think terrorists have the ability to comprehend such social injustice
Gromit, google ‘rape in Afghanistan’ and look at the wiki page. I can’t post a link. I’m using a phone.
The Taliban practice an extreme form of Islam called Wahhabism which has spread from Saudi Arabia.

If we don’t like it, perhaps we should stop exporting them weapons, and buying their oil?
