'(i)stan' means "the land of" in Persian.

So, for example, Afghanistan means 'the land of the Afghans'.
And for Guinea...
//...The English term Guinea comes directly from the Portuguese word Guiné, which emerged in the mid-15th century to refer to the lands inhabited by the Guineus, a generic term for the black African peoples south of the Senegal River, in contrast to the "tawny" Zenaga Berbers above it, whom they called Azenegues or Moors.//
'Guinea' is a traditional name for an area of west Africa:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guinea_(region)#Etymology
Several countries in that area incorporate the word 'Guinea' into their names.

Elsewhere, Papua New Guinea, for example, was named by the explorer Yñigo Ortiz de Retez, who thought that the people there resembled those of the Guinea region of Africa.
Where do Guinea Pigs come from?

So Uzbekistan stands for Uzbeks land and Kyrgyzs calls their country kyrgyzstan becuase it's their land. New Guinea which is part of Papu new guinea is called that becuase they thaugth Papua new guineas natives was the same ethnicity as west africas natives becuase Melanesians have brown skin and blacks have dark brown skin and thus thaugth they looked the same. Is the word stan that means land related to the name stan? I kind of know it isn't but i want to ask to be certain
Stanley is a toponymic surname dating from the 11/12th century contraction of Stan (a form of "Stone") and Leigh (meadow), later also being used as a masculine given name.
Punjab, Afghania, Kashmir, Sindh and Baluchistan = Pakistan. (I'm not sure if the I comes from Sindh or Baluchistan.)
folk from the Stans on their African maraudin' bonked the Guineus and the rest is history - or so the folk from Meccan and Medina think.

It’s completely irrelevant but:
Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistanley, means “city of love”
The capital of Tadzhikistanley Dushanbe means “Monday”and there’s a football team who’s name is Dynamo Dushanbe the “Dynamo” of course being an anagram of the Persian meaning
