What is your opinion on hypnotherapy?

I've wanted to try it for some time now, mainly for nail biting, a phobia of needles and exam nerves, but also for other reasons. However, I have put off making an appointment for about half a year now, and I really want to do something about my above problems. I feel hypnotherapy is such a massive step, and that it would be strange for me to do it, espeicially if I told someone I knew. What is your opinion on hypnotherapy? Would other people consider it wierd if I had a session?

Thanks ^^

I don't think you'll get an answer one way or t'other, I have two friends who tried Hypnotherapy to stop smoking, one succeeded, and one didn't, you'll have to find a reputable one and try yourself. I pesonally think it can work, but you have to want to give up your particular addiction badly enough.

Ok thanks very much. I should book a lesson, just wish they weren't so expensive. They cost around 60 an hour and apparently you need around 4 sessions. Which is rather annoying. I'm nervous that if it doesn't work, it will be a waste of money. Think I should try it anyway?

Im a hypnotherapist and it's 100% safe

I have had hypnotherapy to stop smoking.Sorry to say it didn't work for me.But that does not mean it won't work for you.
I am afraid I am not the type who is easily swayed by suggestion:
But ..it is completely safe ..nothing to worry about ..loads of people undergo this treatment everyday for problems of one kind or another. It's worth a try..nothing ventured nothing gained.
As for biting your nails......naughty !!.......Go and have a manicure and once they look nice you won't want to bite them ! Good luck.

johnlambert - what do you make of people who are difficult to hypnotise? i tried and i couldn't be hypnotised.

can this be changed? i don't want to waste my time and money if i can't be put under.

and can you recommend anyone in the liverpool area

thanks

Well i though about having it for a long time when i was suffering with depression and finding it hard after a bad break up. Im so glad i took the plunge and made an appointment. I cant speak for every Hypnosis clinic but i had it done by a private lady who lived in the same town. It was amazing, i had about 6 treatments and it worked wonders for me. Not only was i more relaxed i wasnt scared anymore and after 6 treatments i felt like a new person. Its different for every person but i say deffinatly give it ago

Thanks everyone for answering :)

Thanks for the suggestion of getting a manicure! I'll try doing that ^_^ Well.. I will probably give it a go. I'm just kind of worried that I have several sessions and it doesn't help at all. It would be kind of a waste.. and since so many people say it didn't really help them, I'm kind of disheartened. I might give it a try. Well, I'll put it off for another year then give it a go. ;) thanks everyone!
