The River Answer flows through the plains,
Passing villages built there on its banks,
Where idiots fish for clues to their queries,
Where pedants parade in public their brains,
And insist that there really are no fairies,
And nobody ever gives you thanks.
The noise from a village is real evidence,
That they can squabble for hours whilst making no sense,
Dancing around a huge subject pole,
Adorned with ribbons, and set in a hole.
Some pull this way and some get confused,
Pulling the ribbons,
Tangling their hair,
Looking for the rising of the poisonous hot air.
A boat sails by, the Early Bird,
And the crew look over the rails.
The Captain slows down, to check on what's heard,
His ears are assaulted by squabulous sounds,
The arguments that fail,
The scratching of nit pickers just as he feared.
The Villagers gather on the bank of the river,
Shouting abuse and clenched fists raised,
The sight of them makes the Captain shiver,
No kind words and certainly no praise.
The crew are astonished, first mate Emmie can see,
This is definitely not the land of the free.
McMinty on deck soup ladle in hand,
The Scottish lassie ready to stand,
And Rowan too is ringing the bell,
Ready to give any boarders real hell.
More crew pour out from the decks below,
TonyV, Johnny, Paddy, Arrods and Smow.
DTCwordfan is sketching it all,
An historical scene preserved for us all.
The Abers are restless and ready to fight,
But the Captain makes sail and sails into the night.
And Nailits spear falls short of the ship,
Even Nomi can't spoil this trip.
The Captain summons the crew all aft,
And mounts the quarterdeck to speak!,
''God Save The Queen,'' he hollers at last,
''This voyage has now reached its peak,''
They have seen first hand the Answerbsnk,
In all its glory and tears,
And so it will stay for many many more years.

I think it was because a poster called him a nasty name and even brought faith into the equation that he left the thread.

Far easier to say 'I disagree with you' or 'What are you basing your opinion on?'

But no , some have to go on full attack mode.
Don't tell me, mamyalynne. Tell whoever it is you're talking about.
\\ Wonder if it needs spelling out?//
You were right Theland, it did need spelling out and naomi did just that for you. You said things will happen and that is an assertion, not an opinion.
Mamyalynne
For someone who pushes his beliefs and promotes his faith yet fails to constantly reply to those who question his opinions he was once again perpetuating his usual doom and despondency which demonstrates total lack of faith. I have my faith but any misgivings I may have on the outcome of this crisis I believe it would be better to keep it to myself rather than shatter the hopes of those who are obviously alarmed and worried about their loved ones and the risks that are currently presenting to them. If a person is being idiotic I will say so.
Clearly.
Oy vey!
Shoota
meaning what?
It's a Yiddish expression of exasperation and dismay.
Oy vey iz mir translates as Woe is me if memory serves.

There's a few who don't seem to appreciate the difference between a conversation and a cross examination.
Thanks shoota. I prefer Shalom. and Musseltoff. Much more cheerful even though probably incorrectly spelt. :-)

Another sneaky swerve from you Theland. May I suggest the next time your dubious poetic genius is tempted to insult others you remember that the only people you impress, however squeaky clean they pretend to be, are the equally disingenuous - and that’s no accolade.
Question Author
You could try being friendly.
Theland, how can you have a conversation with somebody who makes a statement but then insists it's only an opinion?
I read it like I have read all the many AB Village ditties over the years by various posters - as a comedy parody.

I have featured in a few, sometimes as 'No better than she ought to be' etc.
hi babies
some of you never tire of stabbing scalding and pulling the hair out of each others soft toys
and then sort of returning the mutilated toy wivvits head sort of hanging off. (*)

I liked Theelies little ditty even tho he incomprehensibly fails to compare me to Einstein

Oh fearless brave hearted toy
eviscerated by that awful boy !
It's a great light-hearted poem Theland . The ship is sailing brightly and the antagonists can't bring it down .
Question Author
I think it hit an Answerberg :-)
I enjoyed your poem. Glad to see you posted today as was concerned when you did not appear on GMEB today
Why is the above considered poetry? Well; there's some rhymes, it's divided into lines (with comma or other p marks), it speaks obliquely. But I think all that is imitation poetry. I still enjoyed it, Theland; keep up the good work.
