I just can't get my head round the reason why people pay a lot more to buy already grated cheese, I could understand up to a point an older person who may have arthritic hands/ fingers that it would be helpful, other than that what a waste of money.
I agree.. I also don;'t like the coating they put on grated cheese to stop it sticking to itself. However i do think it tastes very nice :P Might be due to the increased surface area. and it is much easier.
I find if I buy a block of cheese I will cut chunks off it and eat them, but I don't do it with ready-grated, so it's more economical (and healthy) for me.
I prefer my cheese without added agents that stops it from sticking to itself, so i'd always go through the effort of self grating a block instead of buying grated
At the end of the day it’s their choice and their money!
I have bought it on occasion when I was doing chillli for 20 men and couldn’t be bothered to grate the cheese too
I know a few people here at work buy it to use with the lunch they bring , jacket potatoespasta etc, as we only have very basic utensils in the staff room.
Other than that i don;t get it either
same as spath, I have had pre grated cheese before and its not the same, there is a covering on it that makes it unpalatable. I prefer to buy a block and grate it as I need it. I won't buy pre peeled/chopped veg for the same reason.
I always buy grated cheese and I am neither in my dotage with arthritic fingers nor am I wasting money. It's cheaper than buying a big block of cheese ! nicebloke - it doesn't really matter, does it ??
I agree it's a complete waste of money along with pre-chopped veg of any description (unless of course the purchaser is very frail) Some people are too lazy to breathe.
I understand why people get grated cheese, and i'd also buy it if it wasn't coated in some kind of substance regardless what it is (but i've made that point) and if i only really used grated cheese. But i use sliced cheese also so if i grated the whole block i'd do meself over
