I've never been offered breakfast on a job in my entire life.

Tea, coffee, yeah that's quite normal, and on reflection i once got offered a ham sandwich (i guess this is similar) but this morning i was offered a coffee (happily accepted) and a bacon butty!!!!!

I double took the nice (relatively old) lady after saying yes to the coffee with a "urmm, that would be delightful but you don't have to go through the trouble"

Nonsense she said (SCORE!!!) and she came back 5 minutes later with a Chris P Bacon sandwich, so i sat down with her for a couple of moments to sip the morning Joe and to destroy Chris P.. Now, back to trimming her bushes for the last time before winter.. Don't forget winter is coming ya'll get your plants ready

Would you accept such an offer or would you feel rude? Usually i would feel rude but in the moment it felt perfectly acceptable. I come here once a week so i've got to know the nice lady

Accept...rude to refuse ;-)
Are you serious? You are getting all hyper and feel 'rude' for accepting a bacon buttie? More rude to say'keep your heart attack in a bun away from me you old harridan' I'd be careful spath, she may want more than her bush trimmed.
Mind she doesn't ask you to sort her out with some morning wood for winter too Spath :)
We always include Tradesmen in meals if they're here ( particularly breakfast) we had a BT guy spend all afternoon with us once having a Bar-b-Que. He pops around quite often now as we all got friendly.
Not on a private job. But one of the companys I work for with the job agency gives a full cooked breakfast and a two course lunch.
She loved having someone to make breakfast for....you probably made her day. People don't offer food if they aren't happy to make it and enjoy the company.
I once offered and made bacon sarnies for a central heating engineer.Cheeky sod sat down and studied the racing form for the next 90mins in MY paper. When he rolled up a smoke as well he was politely requested to have a smoke in the monsoon outside.
No it was lovely - hope you work extra hard for her and don't take too many tea of AB breaks!
When you present her with your bill she may say,£25 less one bacon sarnie thats £10. One dollop of Brown sauce is £3.50 thats £11.50 Cup of coffee is £4. Thats £7.50 Rate per hour for consumption is £10.
Spath. You owe me £2.50.

On a break at the mo, I agree Scorpiojo ;) It would be rude to refuse!

And yes, we sat for about 7 minutes had a nice little morning chat, she told me her errands for the day and i said i'd do them all for her if i could, bless her. Butty was lovely, no broon but had some nice butter and thick homemade bread! :P

AuntLydia, she's a lovely lady, the kind that would give me £2 for the shops, makes a lovely butty and if she needed anything from me i'd help her out ;)

Kval i wouldn't expect less from a lady of your calibre, i recon hospitality comes naturally to you and your family

Eddie that sounds nice! If only she'd make me lunch.. ;) I kid i have a packed lunch!

Mally you're probably right, which is why i chose to sit and eat it with her instead of carry on work with one hand and eat with the other, only one other job after this one so i have time for her

Retro, i do outdoor work only, i usually refuse to enter the house unless you need to go through it to get to the back garden, part of my 'policy' to try and stay safe.. Even though she's a lovely "relatively old" lady, I still have no idea of her background or more details than her name and ex profession

And yes, i agree RR, i shall get back to work now!

retrocop that would make me laugh! I'd probably give her it for the lols and get on my way! Nah i kid, but i will mention to her she can have mates rates for being my mate and making me brekky
I always give tea and bacon and broon on a roll if it is morning and workman is here...friend for life then
What is broon?
Some stupid madeup word?
Question Author
A good spicy mango chutney is nice with bacon.
Question Author

RR. HP. Sauce . Brown sauce .
Question Author
I like to call it.. "Daddies sauce"
Ah so it is a stupid made up name!
I call it HP because that's the brand I buy, not fond of Daddies.
Mamya,
Mango chutney is lovely with sausage sandwiches too.
